  1. When I was a kid every soft drink was a coke, didn’t matter if it was aka Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper, Orange Crush or a grape Nehi bellywasher, it was called a coke. The only possible exception was a weird, vile concotion my sister drank called Fresca, it was in a category all by itself, called fermented pee.

  2. When I was a kid a soft drink was a pop.

    A soda was something made in a tall glass with scoops of ice cream and pop poured over it…root beer, coke, 7 Up or the best…Orange Crush.

    Now, that’s probably a float.

    When I was a kid, a float was something you blew up with a tire pump and put in the riv…oh never mind, ya bunch a young wippersnapper punks. Go do your homework and Get Off My Grass!

  3. I have lived in Knoxville TN all my life but I have always called it a soda. Nobody else in the family does, not sure why I do. Just thought calling everything a Coke sounded silly.

  4. It was mostly cola where I grew up in Washington, D.C. The exception was YooHoo. YooHoo has got to be the worst mixer ever…
