  1. In England we have something very similar. A reasonably large Police Officer with a rather fearsome-looking truncheon always (well, OK – usually) follows the Prime Minister’s Jaguar wherever it goes. He carries a loud whistle, too, and he’s not afraid to use. We find it suffices.

  2. How did the rumor get started that this had anything to do with the Secret Service? It’s just a marketing piece for Dillon Precision/Aero. For a really interesting look, hunt down the vid of a helicopter mounted with one of these, shooting tracers. It’s like watching a Star Wars scene.

  3. I agree with CJ. This video has been floating around the web recently, but there is no evidence that such a vehicle is part of the presidential motorcade. It is difficult to envision a scenario where such firepower would be required, and if it was, it would be more effective to deploy it from a helicopter, which is faster, more maneuverable, and less vulnerable to attack than an SUV.

  4. Before I retired, I was on the BellSouth communications coordination team that interfaced with the Secret Service to plan and implement Presidential visits (Slick Willie’s first term). I had the chance to see the war wagon up close and wow what a vehicle. It was loaded with all kinds of communications equipment to contact everyone from the NSA to Monica Lewinsky. It also had an impressive array of weapons, including a dozen M-16s, several Light Antitank Weapons, stun grenades, etc. The only thing that came out of the roof in those days was a satellite dish. There was more than one vehicle, but the total number was classified, as is the total number of Presidential Limo’s. The vehicles would be flown in one to two days prior so that they would be ready.
