Oil fires never respond well to water. The water, being heavier than the oil, makes the displaced hot flaming oil go in places you really don’t want it to go.
This was a close call…at around the 2 min mark I thought he was going to meet his maker, but he finally made the right move by smothering it.
The propane tank a couple of feet from the blaze was a nice touch.
With so many ways these fryers can go wrong, why do they still sell them? Out of that whole group, didn’t anyone think the wood deck attached to the house might not be such a good place?
Get the canister of gas turned off.

The two things most consitantly under rate as being dangerous is (1) water (2) fire.
There’s a dozen things those people should have been doing but like most groups of people, they turned into a committee at the wrong moment.

I helped buy one of those things for someone a couple years ago…I’ve learned alot about them since, and I can’t believe they’re allowed on the market.
