Miami goes a month without a single murder

Chalk2J-Walk Blog posted an article that said that the city of Miami did not have one single murder in the month of October. Source

Midnight Friday marked the end of October and the news from Miami’s homicide office was what didn’t happen. No one was murdered.

October passed without a homicide — meaning for the first time since May 1966, an entire month went by in the city of Miami without someone succumbing violently.

”That’s an amazing thing,” said Miami Lt. John Buhrmaster, a longtime homicide investigator. “It’s a great record when people are not killing each other.”

I couldn’t find statistics for St. Louis for October, but I found statistics for January through September.  In that time period there were 136 murders in the city of St. Louis.  That’s an average of a little over 15 murders per month.

  1. @Tzen… actually, the news this morning reported that sales of
guns are up over the last few months. They said this happens
everytime the economy dumps. They didn’t really address
the reasons… protection? crime? hunting for food?
It would be interesting to know why.

  2. TIME TO KILL

NEWSWIRE–For the first time in 42 years, the city of Miami has gone for a month with no reported murders.

The credit collapse from the mortgage subprime
And the stock market drop have been chilling.
But it took a reduction in murderous crime
To proves nobody’s making a killing.
