    • you’re conflating communist socialism with democratic socialism. This meme and my title is referring to democratic socialism where the people’s tax monies are collected and used FOR the people and the services used therein. Public schools, county roads, state highways, water, sewer, power generation, public services like fire, rescue, police, and governments; all paid for by the citizens and utilized by the citizens and corporations.

      • In pure Marxism the people would own the means of production. But then there are too many cooks spoiling the pot with no one directing what should be in the pot.
But pure capitalism is not the answer either since it is really crony capitalism where the people own nothing. Like the coal miners that lived in company housing and shopped at the company store with no escape in sight for their situation.
It just seems like a 100% and pure version of any system doesn’t work that well except for those at the top. No matter what ‘ism is in place there are always some that will work that system to their own advantage and the detriment of others.
Kind of like dogs. Over bred pure dogs don’t seem to be as good as a mix.

  1. Um, in the real world capitalism is the insurance company paying your claim, thereby protecting the capital, i.e. value, in your home which is what allows you to own it in the first place — otherwise a fire or other disaster would wipe you out.

Also, socialism is your property taxes going sky-high, not just to buy new fire trucks but also to pay for additional employees . . . union employees, that is, and the union makes campaign contributions to the politicians who raised the taxes. Definitely benefits, well, SOME of the people, that’s true. Socialists are **really** good at spending other peoples’ money.

    • As long as the spending benefits the people (make that ALL people) devoid of cronyism and pork barrel Easter eggs, everyone paying their fair share of taxes and eliminating the cap on social security contributions.

Also some in the house and senate needs to grow a pair and remind the upper echelon that they are public SERVANTS and they work for us. Therefore, any wars, corporate tax breaks, tariffs, and domestic/foreign policy should be properly approved through the proper channels.
