  1. Those were intended to add weight to the paper plates so they wouldn’t blow away in the wind when using them outside. They made them in plastic as well.

    • I found that putting a small potato sized rock on the plate keeps it from blowing away
      but you have to watch that it doesn’t get mixed in with the potato salad.
      My wife actually bought some at an estate sale for 50 cents this summer and I didn’t know what they were actually good for
