From way over here, it’s a little difficult to understand. Trump 1.0 was wacky enough, the storming of the Capitol crowning 4 years of what looked nothing like making anything ‘great’.
Then Trump 2.0, as if the warning signs weren’t in even stronger focus, and the wacky has been cranked to levels more bizarre than before.
Voice of America, gutted. National Parks left unprotected by Rangers. Pictures of Enola Gay removed from the walls of the Pentagon. Violent offenders pardoned. And that’s just some of the oddness that directly affects U.S. citizens.
This time around Trump is taking a larger swing at international diplomacy. Combined with the tariffs, the ‘diplomacy’ so far has been a swing and miss.
Long term allies of the U.S. are scrambling to strengthen alternate alliances. Australia, a long term security partner (Pine Gap gives the U.S. military eyes on this side of the planet) is on the end of tariffs even though it spends more on U.S. made goods and just handed over a pile of money for Virginia class subs that may not even be delivered
Seriously curious as to how Trump was given another go. Because two months in he’s exceeded the lowest of low expectations to the point where democracy in the USA looks kinda shaky
Everyone thought the price of eggs and gas were more important than basic human rights.
Eggs and gas are still high, and rights are slipping away
