We once had a greyhound and a small cat that had litters at the same time. When the cat left the kittens alone for a long time the dog would go get them one at a time and put them in with her pups. We gave up trying to keep them separate and built the whelping box larger and put them all in together. Everybody was happy except the cat when one of the puppies who were almost as big as she was came sniffing around.
