OK, a stupid question from a guy who’s never had kids. Do ALL kids lose ALL of their baby teeth? Now, sometimes I see kids on TV without their front teeth, but I almost never see such in reality. . . I remember losing SOME teeth as a kid, but 20-some-odd? That’s a lot of cash from the tooth fairy!
i also don’t have kids, and i really don’t think that’s a stupid question. but i THINK the answer is yes – that all kids loose all their baby teeth. my expectation that this is the answer comes from recalling that i have long been under the impression that the ‘seeds’ of our teeth are present from birth, and that the adult teeth would push out the baby teeth eventually, no matter what.
i also recall some knowledge regarding the number of teeth – there are fewer baby teeth than there are adult teeth. i dont recall the actual numbers and i’m far too lazy to go look it up on wikipedia or something.
yes, all kids lose all of their teeth. there are 20 “baby” or primary teeth, and 32 adult or permanent teeth. you probably don’t remember losing all of your baby teeth because it happens slowly over your childhood, starting around 6 or 7 years old. the last primary tooth may not come out until the late teens or even the early 20s.
one of my 8 year olds lost 4 teeth in the last week.
