On the road again

Map tripI made it 666 miles today.  I ended the night in Biloxi Mississippi.  In the morning I’ll head off to Slidell Louisiana to stop by and visit my cousin and drop off a few of my aunt’s things that she wants.

After leaving there I’ll head up I-55 towards St. Louis.  Depending on what time I get away from my cousins I’ll hopefully make it to Tunica or Memphis.  Then another overnight stay and the final 5–6 hour drive back to St. Louis.

  1. If you stay in Tunica, call me, I will set you up in the casino of your choice. Find one that has a parlor that allows betting on mice.

  2. just curious. Do you have a special road trip bag? If so what is in it?

    My bag:
Energy drink, emergency smokes, bag of peanuts, a few music CDs, a power inverter, snow boots, and some children’s letters to God.

  3. Isiah, that’s an interesting question. I really don’t have a road trip bag, unless you consider my laptop bag which has phone chargers and miscellaneous cables and of course my laptop.
I usually just pick up some snacks along the way. Thankfully I have no need for emergency smokes and I just don’t care energy drinks. As far as CD’s go, I’d rather listen to the radio. I spend a lot of time using the Seek and Scan buttons on my radio.

  4. Wow – small world. I admire your blog and have been lurking here for a while… I also live in Slidell. Have a great trip!

    Regards,

  5. Make it Memphis! BBQ! The Rendezvous! You will never regret it.
Re: seek and scan, ever been so much in a daze that you realize you have been listening to “scan” for a 100 miles?

  6. Jonco – Based on past experience, maybe you need an emergency bag with sunglasses, caps, a Harley shirt and an extra pair of size 13 shoes…

  7. Aside from the emotion and importance of finalising things on behalf of your aunt, the journey itself sounds fabulous. I’m very envious. In this neck of the woods 60 minutes gets you from one side of the country to the other. I’m sure it’s been a very fulfilling trip.
