  1. The Russian car (a Lada, I believe) is a dead ringer for the ’78 Fiat Brava I owned in college. I miss that car.

    As for the evolution of Swedish cars…sadly they all became variants of the Ford Tempo.

  2. I’d take a clean ’78 beemer over a new model any time. Also I bet the ’78 ‘yota would stop, start, and steer like you asked it to this day if it had not rusted away back in the ’80s.

  3. Grumpy, it’s dead ringer since basically all FSO, Lada, and Wartburg models from the ’60s on behind the iron curtain were based on Fiat designs.

  4. The one that differs are the USA cars. Compared to the rest of the world, Americans are wasting WAY TOO MUCH FUEL using in-efficient cars. All those SUVs and pickup trucks are just CRAZY!!!

    Fortunately, the crisis is cleaning up GM and the rest of the USA a bit.
