  1. I disagree with “Like having free time” -> “Yes” going to computer science. I never had any free time. I love coffee but I hate Java, maybe that’s why?

  2. I was having a pleasant conversation with my barber/stylist 4-5 years back, as she was cutting my hair, and the topic turned to college. Now, being an engineer, I admit to being insensitive about such things. But I said, “As long as you don’t major in french history, college is a good path.” At which point she frowned (mirror), and said “I majored in french history.” The woman cutting my hair. (snicker)

I knew a pilot – a B-52 pilot, no less – that got an undergrad degree in electrical engineering. I asked him WHY subject yourself to such AGONY? Yer gonna be a PILOT! He said “So no one would ever laugh at my degree.”

  3. And Ana. . . Back in my day (late 70’s), computer science majors were BY FAR the laziest students. They wouldn’t do anything, most not even attending class. Until 3 or 4 days before “the project” was due. When they worked 24 hours a day for several days. One, a good friend of mine, would come back to the dorm – in the wee hours of the morning before “the project” was due, and scream, at the top of his lungs, several times (too much coffee), “IT’S DONE! I’M DONE!” then FLING his large stack of computer cards down the hallway. Yes, I suppose that I did just date myself. I also remember the one time that he wasn’t really done, and he travelled the hallway, on his knees, weeping, collecting his cards. . . He he he.
