I don’t recall ever hearing about the Christmas pickle before.
Steinberg Skating Rink is a “skating rink” in Forest Park in mid St. Louis. Forest Park is home to the world famous St. Louis Zoo and the Municipal Opera or Muni as it’s called. The St. Louis Art Museum is also located there. Forst Park was the sight of the 1904 World’s Fair too. More information can be found here for anyone interested.
Do the deer skate on all fours or upright on their rear hooves?
Front, like the dog.
The Christmas Pickle is an old German tradisian
anyway.. long story short and bring it to now you hide a pickle, as an onament on a Chistmas tree and the fist person to find it gets a wish, good luck for the year, or an extra gift or they get to unwrap “the gift”. Our family does it every year. It is now, and has probably always been just a fun little joke to have with family and friends and just a fun tradition.
And we also open our gifts on Christmas eve… another German tradition. I’m glad we fled to Russia-China-America 🙂 hehe
Oh.. and not a real pickle.
I usually put my pickle in my pocket…
Thanks DJ and Rhym, I’ve never heard of the pickle tradition myself. Interesting.
Richard, remove the pickle, it does no good.
Wait what?
Skate where?
Jonco – You’ve got to go and check this out with your video cam. I can’t wait to see reindeer doing those spins.
Is that a gherkin, DJ?
Bella – That’s the Christmas pickle!
The one on our tree has been in our family for almost 100 years.
