I think the observation is probably correct (that most people did not notice there were two guys helping them), but I think more research is needed to figure out why only 25% of those experimented on noticed the change of guys helping them.

I could be that the two women were attracted to the first guy.
Most people’s minds are absorbed in what they need or want to be doing next. We tend to ignore details in what we have no interest, or what is not important to us.

Although it didnt show males that noticed the change the 2 girls at the end could have had an attraction to the first male, so they probably paid better attention.
