Looks like a great plan to me.
it will never work no one gets rich except the person doing the plan.
LMAO, good point ALN.
That is unless you get cancer, have a genetic disorder, get hurt by someone else, have a tumor, etc.
This oversimplification would be funny if people weren’t losing their life savings and homes just because they got sick.
Typical conservative know-nothing reaction.
It’s primarily just a funny post dumb ass.
Sorry MJF, that was a little stronger than I would have replied 4 beers ago…but I still contend it was a funny post, and this is a site focused largely on humor….I’m just sayin’
Actually it’s a great plan. People need to start taking personal responsibility for their health. Yes there are times when you’re not at fault (genetic disorders), but beyond that…
Well, fwiw, I lost my life savings and a house due to tremendous medical costs and as far as I’m concerned it was worth every darned penny.
And I still think this is funny. But, lucky me, I find humor in misery, pain, poverty, ignorance, and intolerance so it seems I’m laughing all day….

Well that is total bs . . . .
It’s not about the lazy people. Sure, some schmucks leech off the teat, but most people that this healthcare reform would help have jobs. Any of us could get cancer, overcome our coverage limit, and get dropped by our insurance companies. It’s not that rare of a thing. I see the humor, but it’s based on untruths. Takes some of the punch out of it.
Gary: If you find humor in people losing their homes, and their lives, so that insurance companies can post record profits durign a nasty recession, then quite frankly, you should be forcibly committed to a hospital for the criminally insane, because you are, literally, a psychopath.
I see the humor in it too. You never see any really old, heavy set people. Something gets them. We are a “growing” population. Also, seeing Gary apologize, I owe one to ‘required’ as well. I’m sorry that I came across so strong the other day and I could have worded it better. I hope you accept my apology.
Goober, I don’t think he meant it that way.
Lol, INTERNETS = SRS BIZNESS. This is funny. I would have simplified it to “STFU and put down the cheeseburger” but this is equally good. @Gary and @Bella congratulations, you understand humor and the internet as does Jonco. Goober is just trollin’ so don’t feed it.
Goober, “record profits”? How much did the insurance companies make? Please provide a number. What is your source?
Goober, either you’re nuts or you’ve been drinking the liberal left’s mind altering Koolaid. Look at any of the links above, and even better do a little research of your own concerning the health insurance industry profits. Goob, the industry as a whole posts profit margins in the neighborhood of 5%…I don’t think that’s out of bounds in most folks view.
Goob I still see the humor in this post, I don’t laugh at people’s misfortune…But, I see humor in the mindset of some folks who rail at what they’re having to spend on their health care while sitting on their asses eating ding dongs all day. Or those that give up a 40 year smoking habit two days after the the lung cancer diagnosis.
Goob, sorry if we don’t share the same humor gene…perhaps this site is not a good fit for you.
“What do these enterprises have in common? Farm and construction machinery, Tupperware, the railroads, Hershey sweets, Yum food brands and Yahoo? Answer: They’re all more profitable than the health insurance industry.”
Yum Food (Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC) beated the health insurance industry.
“Profits barely exceeded 2 percent of revenues in the latest annual measure.”
The first post is awaiting moderation because of all the links

Gary: You *are* laughing at people dying of treatable causes. That makes you a sadist. You’re bristling because you don’t like how it makes you feel to be called on it.
And, typical of your sort, when called on your sadism, you resort to namecalling. Because that’s *all* you have.
After reading all the comments and the joke, all I have to say is “that’s racist”
I thought this was funny.
There are things the fools in Washington can do to make health insurance more affordable without getting involved (outside of passing the legislation). For instance, how about tort reform? That will drop the costs to doctors and hospitals, thus lowering our costs. Also, make health insurance portable and not tied to jobs–make it as easy to buy as car insurance (which brings up another point: make it easier to buy health insurance across state lines).
When I see how Washington could not handle the “Cash for Clunkers” program, I hear about the billions of dollars of waste in the Medicare/Medicaid industry without anyone caring to weed that out, I hear about the mismanagement of the veteran’s healthcare, and I hear that they want to cut about $500 billion out of Medicare/Medicaid to pay for this socialized medicine, I get very concerned. Do you really want the fools in Washington managing your healthcare? I certainly do not. And without Washington managing it, our taxes won’t go up.
LOL W M E! Not only that, but it looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
Goob, I’m laughing at you because you come to a humor site and you express shock and dismay that you find humor that doesn’t suit your particular taste…grow up Goob, humor comes in more than one flavor.
BTW, you didn’t respond to my and X’s smackdown of your wild assertions about healthcare industry profits….breaker breaker, come back goob good buddy.
Goober, I have to call you on that. I have cancer. Gary has been super supportive of me all the way. Please stop now before you misjudge.
The sadist bit reminded me of a joke.
Guy meets girl, falls head over heels in love. On the second date he’s made up his mind and pops the question.
She says yes, but says she has to make a confession “I’m a sadist” she says
Guy says “baby that’s not a problem, we’ll go to your church one sunday and mine the next”.
Of course you’re laughing, Gary. That’s what you do. Laugh at things that aren’t funny. Humor site? Yes, it is, most of the time. In this case, however, it’s not, except to sadists. There is a racist element, too, since white people are far more likely to be able to afford health care.
What you are laughing at, specifically, is people dying of things that could be treated if they had access to health care, but they die anyway because they can’t afford it. What you are claiming is that it is their own fault they have cancer (*all* cancer, no exceptions, ever), genetic conditions, accidents. Hell, you’d probably let people injured on the job die if they couldn’t afford their own health care.
So laugh away, psycho-boy. Call me names, make fun of people who can’t afford health insurance. And when it’s your turn, and eventually it will be, because it always is for everyone, when it’s your turn, piss and moan like a little girl (and you will, your kind always does, can’t be living by the same rules as you want to force on others, now can you?) that you’ve been turned out to die, because the only people who can stand to be around you are people just like you.
The inability to feel compassion is a warning sign of a psychotic personality. It means your brain isn’t wired right. You’re *broken*. Not fully human. It’s not your fault, really. The evidence suggests that it’s defective DNA. You were born that way. Blame your parents. Cuz nothing is ever *your* fault, is it? Fault is for the dirty mud people.
or get off your collective asses, stop eating that commune food and run around the compound some time tuesday or dont we dont care you will be replaced
How can we not laugh at somebody using the name “Goober”?
I work and pay for insurance. I don’t expect anybody else to pay for my cost of living. I don’t want the country to go bankrupt for me.
Goob, I feel sorry for you now… I can see you are a bit unbalanced. Tomorrow go back to the psychiatrist and tell him that the meds are NOT working. The one thing that you are right about goob, is that no matter what, you’re still gonna die
STILL GONNA DIE
So you’re takin’ better care of your body
Becoming more aware of your body.
Responding to your body’s needs.
Everything you hear and read about diets,
Nutrition and sleeping position and detoxifying your system,
And buying machines that they advertise to help you exercise.
Herbs to revitalize you if you’re traumatized.
Soaps that will sanitize.
Sprays to deordorize.
Liquid to neutralize acids and pesticides.
Free weights to maximize your strength and muscle size.
Shots that will immunize.
Pills to re-energize you.
But remember that for all your pain and gain
Eventually the story ends the same…
You can quite smokin’, but you’re still gonna die.
Cut out cokin’, but you’re still gonna die.
Eliminate everything fatty or fried,
And you get real healthy, but you’re still gonna die.
Stop drinkin’ booze, you’re still gonna die.
Stay away from cooze, you’re still gonna die.
You can cut out coffee and never get high,
But you’re still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
You’re still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
You can even give aerobics one more try,
But when the music stops playin’, you’re still gonna die.
Put seat belts in your car, you’re still gonna die.
Cut nicotine tar, you’re still gonna die.
You can exercise that cellulite off your thigh.
Get slimmer and trimmer, but you’re still gonna die.
Stop gettin’ a tan, you’re still gonna die.
You can search for UFO’s up in the sky
They might fly you to Mars where you’re still gonna die.
You’re still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
And all the Reeboks and Nikes and Adidas you buy
You can jog up to heaven and you’re still gonna die.
Drink ginseng tonics, you’re still gonna die.
Try high colonics, you’re still gonna die.
You can have yourself frozen and suspended in time,
But when they do thaw you out, you’re still gonna die.
You can have safe sex, you’re still gonna die.
You can switch to Crest, you’re still gonna die.
You can get rid of stress, get a lot of rest,
Get an AIDS test, enroll in EST,
Move out west where it’s sunny and dry
And you’ll live to be a hundred
But you’re still gonna die.
You’re still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
So you’d better have some fun
‘Fore you say bye-bye,
‘Cause you’re still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Goober (?? LOL!) From what I know about Gary, he’s got more brains, logic, business ethics and compassion than you could ever begin to comprehend. And when you heard that from our gal who’s battling cancer, you probably should have at least tried to understand.
Regarding psychotic personalities, your comments speak for themselves.
Wow. No such thing as “compassionate conservatism”, is there? “Eff off everyone, I got mine, you don’t got yours? Tough t*tties” (w/apologies to Bella). If you want compassion, you can find it in the dictionary between “cold hearted” and curmudgeon.
Paul,
If you ask for help, I will be happy to give. If you want to make laws saying you are entitled to my money or try to take it by force, F you.
I wonder about those that believe the plan in Congress is socialist. Socialist. Really? a total government take-over of the healthcare system? For a reform where almost every newly insured person will get coverage under a private insurance company and get prescription drugs from private drug companies and get treated in non-government-run hospitals?
so’k, P’n’B.
X: The Poster poster for a coldhearted curmudgeon. Thanks for proving my point.
Paul in Boca – I believe that temporary help is important and should be there for those that stumble and need help (like a medical emergency or losing a job). But the emphasis is on temporary–mooching off the taxpayers should not be the normal way to live.
And if someone is able to make a fortune in a legal manner, more power to them. They should have the ability to share their excess with those they choose as opposed to having it taken from them and redistributed. In fact, everyone should be allowed to succeed in this manner if they so choose.
Bella, thank you, dear
DAYUM – Seems that I missed all of the good fun and witty reparte. If the comment applies to you than do something about it. As DJ and infi can attest, I definitely need to stop eating the crap and get more exercise. If the comment doesn’t apply, then move on to the next B&P.
And oh, I never knew that being overweight and out of shape was a racist thing. Alert the media…
You’re Welcome Paul. But, I can’t help from thinking that you can’t cure coo-coo. Every one of you gentlemen make your point, but with a certain amount of respect and courtesy to each other. I guess that some people just don’t get it. Not talking about you Richard.
Bella,
I just wish I could change their incorrect beliefs minds!
Gary: As expected, as predicted, *all* you have is namecalling. It’s all you *ever* have, and all you ever will have.
DJ: Does he put out for you when you stand up for him on the internet? Cuz he’s got *nothing* else to offer. But you knew that already, didn’t you?
Bella, I bet you’re also not talking about Goober!!!
goob, hush, the adults are talking. You should take a few pointers from Paul in Boca. Paul usually is on the other side of the aisle from me when it comes to politics, but his responses are mostly well thought out and logical.(pay attention here goob) Paul is also capable of providing sources to back up his argument.
Interesting joke, but I agree, that’s something typical from a Republican’s repertoire.
Please do explain to me how exercise and good nutrition is going to help me pay for that Vasectomy that just cost $7,000!! I would love to hear that one.
Don’t forget that most injuries are results from exercise!
Gary, Mostly?? 😉
Speaking of healthcare – Good luck today Bella, you’re the first person I thought of when I realized it was Tuesday. I don’t know how far along you are on your scheduled sessions, but I hope you’re back into your “good days” for the holidays. (I know, cancer doesn’t take a holiday). Hang in there!
Wow, it’s incredible to see the non sequiturs being utilized as an argument. “We’re all gonna die”? Is that what you think the issue is about? Staying alive? Ummm, no, it’s not, never was. It’s about being able to afford healthcare that allows one to partake in preventative care which in turn allows one to maintain good health plus a larger participation creates lower overall costs for medical care. Of course, there are those who ignore the fact that the bill will actually save money for the federal government AND reduce the deficit. What I do find funny are those who cite their taxes will be paying for others. Call me a skeptic, but I’m willing to go out on a limb here and bet not one of the detractors here make over $280,000 a year as a single filer ($350,000 for joint filers)–the starting income which will see a tax increase. While there are those who will still claim that it’s still “mooching” off others, they fail to see that in the end, helping maintain a healthier workforce makes the US more competitive in a global economy. Unless, of course the idea of fighting such a bill is to help weaken our economy, much less desire to have Americans dying in the street. If the people who are resisting this bill were honest, they would do the research and see the benefits that the bill brings to the nation in the form of productivity, revenue, and the economy. Unfortunately, personal selfishness, coupled with ignorance of the facts, overrides the benefits to the country they pretend to love.
I must have unknowing time-warped back the 4th grade.

Bella,
I just wish I could change their
incorrect beliefsminds!Gary: As expected, as predicted, *all* you have is namecalling.
Gary,
Mostly??
