Sunday Open Mic

Open micToday we’re celebrating our family Thanksgiving dinner.  We always had to work on Thanksgiving Day so we usually have our family get-together the weekend before or after the holiday.  That always left the kids to be with their spouses families on Thanksgiving.  This year we’re heading to Disney World on Thursday morning.  We’ll spend a few days there with my brother and his family.

The turkey is in the oven where it’s been since 6:30 this morning.  The pies are baked the house cleaned and we’re ready for the twenty or so people we’re expecting today.

The rest of the day here is yours.

Discuss whatever you like and have a great day!

  1. Deborah – I bet that your Mom thinks your Birthday is always Thanksgiving…
Jonco – I hope that you have explained Thanksgiving to Gus. He might not appreciate the crowd eating all of his turkey.

  2. You are soooo right Richard. Happy Birthday Deborah. You are one hellova Sweetheart!! Hope that you have a Great Day!!

  3. Hey Tenderkiss, good question and I’ll answer. I had just got a new computer about 4 or so years ago. I kept going on to sites and then I started clicking on the blogrolls (to the right) of a bunch and stumbled on to the old Bits and Pieces. I was hooked. Never laughed so hard in my life at most of the posts and some of the comments. It seemed like everyone was familiar with each other and comfortable with commenting. I must have checked it out for 6 months before my first comment and there has been no looking back. Jonco has done an amazing job here and I appreciate the hours of work that he puts into it for our pleasure. Next…..

  4. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Enjoy Disney World — holidays are the best time to visit! Make sure to check out the Haunted Mansion’s Nightmare Before Christmas decorations and the Holidays Around the world at EPCOT!

  5. TenderKiss, go here to get or make your avatar.

Please explain you first question, I don’t understand why anyone had to “find” this site. My computer came with B&P’s as it’s default home page, didn’t your?

  6. I found this site pretty much the same way as Bella. I used to only know about Ebaums World which became incredibly annoying very rapidly. Too much crap to wade through to get to anything really funny and then, they started putting in very invasive advertising (such as running virus checks on your computer without your consent, etc.) I clicked on some of the links and found other good sites and haven’t been back to Ebaum for over a year. Eatliver.com has funny pictures (which has always been one of my favorite things) and I saw the link for B&P. Once I found B&P, I was hooked! It is the only website that I look at every day. Jonco has done an amazing job and it is not only filled with great content with easy navigation, but hosts an incredibly friendly community. Jonco does not put up with childish or vitriolic posts and deeps it a friendly place. Well done Jonco! We love you (but not in a gay way)!

  7. What Bella said. I haven’t been hanging around as long but I stop by every day. B&P is by far my favorite site. Thank you Jonco. You make my day – every day!

  8. Happy Turkey Day to all of the Merkins here, and happy day to all of our friends from around Mother Earth.
How did I find B&P? Hell if I remember! Does it really matter?

  9. How did I find B&P? Shoot, I can find anything, right Jonco?

Happy Thanksgiving to our home guys and gals and best wishes to all other visitors throughout the world.

  10. Thanks for all the kind words about B&P and the Thanksgiving wishes. This truly is a great little neighborhood we have here.
Gus did very good today. We had 20 people and we invited them to bring their dogs. So we had 5 dogs too … oh, and one guinea pig. They all got along excellently, … well except for the guinea pig. He was kept out of the mix for the most part. (My granddaughter with Gus and his ‘cousins’ Clover and Cocoa.)

  11. What a beautiful pic, Jonco!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Tenderkiss – My husband found B&P. He never comments but reads everyday. I don’t even know how long it has been now but even when I slack off on commenting I am still lurking about. xo

  12. Happy Thanksgiving to all

Tenderkiss – i stumbled onto B & P through a Google pix search a few years back after going through all the past post in 2 days i was hooked. I have to have my daily fix or things get bad around here. to much estrogen in this house need my B & P for sanity.

  13. LOL @ everyone!

I found the site because I was working at Petco and decided to look for the “How to bathe a cat from the dog’s point of view”! (I had been telling my co-workers about it)

Then I saw more awesomness! lol! I then bookmarked it, later added it as my homepage! Love this site VERY much!

  14. It’s been too long to remember how I got here, about 4 years ago I think. Back when none of these names existed including mine (except Jonco of course), when comments were rare, and no one said anything to anyone else.

I have no idea why I stuck around so long. Waiting for all you guys to show up I guess.

  15. I found the site way back when.. when my dad told me about his new ‘blog’- and i probably said- “what’s a blog?” 🙂
I try to follow it everyday, I sometimes comment– I don’t get into all the political stuff, and pretty much could care less about the t&a, but dad and I have kind of the same sense of humor, so i know i’ll be entertained by most of the rest!
Also- sometimes the comments crack me up just as much.
