FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A Colorado sheriff says it was hoax when parents reported that their 6-year-old son was in a flying saucer-like helium balloon hurtling away from their home.
Sheriff Jim Alderden says Richard and Mayumi Heene “put on a very good show for us, and we bought it.”
The sheriff says no charges have been filed yet, and the parents aren’t under arrest. He says he expects to recommend charges of conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant.
Some of the most serious charges each carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
He says all three children knew of the Thursday hoax, but likely won’t face charges because of their ages. The oldest son is 10.
Authorities questioned the Heenes after Falcon turned to his dad during a CNN interview Thursday night and said “you said we did this for a show” when asked why he didn’t come out of his hiding place.
Falcon got sick during two separate TV interviews Friday when asked again why he hid.

I’ve been gone for a while. Missed you all! I discovered Facebook and it took away my life!
As far as Tiny Tim goes (or should I say, went!) he is, as you suspected, tiptoeing through the maggots. He died about 10 years ago. He actually had a show in Laughlin (it’s like las vegas for people with 6 teeth or less) and I passed by him in the casino (I was there for work…really!). If you can believe it, he was actually uglier than his pictures would lead you to believe!
If nobody is somebody and anybody is able bodied then why is nobody in charge?.
It’s your turn to talk about anything you want. I just ask that you keep it sort of clean.
