  1. Yep, the idiots in Springfield, Illinois, made a law limiting the sales of cold medicine a few years ago. Then the idiots in Washington, DC, added that same stupid law to the Patriot Act.

J.D., you are right that zero tolerance is zero intelligence–you see that in a lot of schools where some kid is expelled because they are carrying a Tylenol.

I read that 80% of the meth consumed in the US comes from Mexico; if this is true, how is the law helping? Yes, I am sure it is sad to see a baby born from a meth addicted mom, but there has to be a better way to bust the meth labs without going after those who buy cold medicines. Maybe use police investigations?

  2. While the prosecutor is an idiot, the lawmakers who made such a shitty law are the ones actually at fault here.

This is also the result of police departments trying to boost numbers on arrests when politics is used to select those who enforce the laws. Wonder if the sheriff in that county or possibly the DA is up for reelection soon and needs to pad their numbers?

  3. If the grandmother doesn’t have a previous record (or a meth lab) – I would hope that she’s learned her lesson: Buy cold medicine with cash; the 2nd time you buy it, go to a different store – also use cash.

If justice gets served, it is my hope that the prosecutor is sentenced to do 500 hours of community service in an Adult Day Care center as an aide or orderly – and that she also finds the time to prosecute the Sheriff for a possibility of a breach of the HIPPA laws.
