Here’s Gus rolling in the grass and ignoring my every command or request. After wallowing in the grass he decides he wants to go into the house… but has trouble with that evil door. Once he does go through the door he shoots up the steps to the second floor.
Good ol’ Gus gettin’ some ground-in grass. Goodness Gracious!
Just doing what a doggy dog has to do.
There’s a scent on the grass he likes…(and you probably won’t).
Terriers are masters of selective hearing! Mine takes temporary deafness to new levels when a squirrel or cat is involved.
I agree with vsoops. Dogs love to roll in stuff like dead animals. So something died or did an unspeakable horror there. Lucky (or sadly) for us our noses aren’t good enough to pick up on the savory aroma.
You are right, he is trying to get the scent on him. It’s probably where something small died. It is something they do instinctively to cover their own scent for hunting purposes.
He is just too cute! Do you think he might be hard of hearing? PS I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gus updates!!!
my dog obviously rolled around like that in human feces whilst driving the Alcan Hwy. foul.
I’m no expert, but it looks to me like Gus’ training methods are working better than yours.
He’s soooo cute!!
I agree with Vsoops and Carl, he was rolling in something. My dog does that all the time, you think its all cute and funny til ya get a whiff of death or something worse. Hopefully it will be beyond your range. He still is very cute and seems to have you trained pretty well so far, congrats!
I agree with WifeMotherMe, I would worry that Gus is deaf. I have a deaf dog and it is challenging but can be handled.
Did you name him Gus or did the shelter know that was his name? If you named him, he’s not made a good connection with it yet. Get those treats out and every time he comes for a treat, say his name. It’ll take some time so help him identify with what you are calling him. 🙂
It don’t hafta be nothin that bad for them to roll in, my uncles dog rolls on my pillows when he comes over and I haven’t got no complaints..lol….love the gus updates
LOL @ Maconga, you may be right! I will have to give Gus a 9.9 win on this video.
vegaslady – We had a “Name the Dog” contest in here about a month ago.
haha yeah my dog does that all the time when she finds a smell in the grass she likes (and I usually dont)
LOL he looks so happy! 😀
Lol, my budgies started kissing back at you Jonco!
Aw, how cute.
It’s good to see Gus acting like a dog. He obviously had little human contact and wasn’t allowed to be a dog before coming into your life.
Can’t wait to see more videos.
Awww… he is so precious! 🙂
So, did he stink to high heaven after that? Usually when they do that so intensely on one spot, there is something incredibly nasty they are rubbing in! We have a black and white English setter mix who went running through the yard one day after we had just mowed the lawn (and it was particularly “juicy” grass) and she was green and black. I wish we had taken pictures. It was hilarious. Her white fur was all kind of a nice shade of lime green.
