I have come to the conclusion that the ones who complain about it the most are the ones who would actually lose their jobs to a Hispanic if they actually did learn English. Be thankful they can’t speak English, cause don’t think your company won’t pay them less to do your job.
Excellent point, Sander!!
Damn you spellcheck!
Conclusion: racists are dumb-asses.
Sander, the flip side of that might be that “a house divided against itself cannot stand.” The commonality of a shared language tends to build a bridge between races and across cultural divides. We have enough trouble communicating with others based on our individual beliefs and societal mores, much less adding another language into the mix.
Does that mean they should forego their culture and heritage? No, of course not. But that doesn’t mean I should forget mine. And I have enough trouble understanding someone from Bahstun, Noo Yawk, and other places.
Priceless, particularly because it is so true!
