  1. Incredibly retarded. Most people never experience fires in their homes or businesses, and yet pay, unnecessarily, into that. Even so, it has become quite apparent over the last few years that merit and skill are pushed aside for politically correct demographics of firefighting units. So no, if my house ever did catch fire (which it pretty much never will), I’d rather have the most competent and skilled firefighters doing the job.

Same can be said for roadwork, and so forth.

Some of these government-monopolized fields are wholly unnecessary for the government to be involved with.

And besides, even excepting to my above statements – there is no national firefighting unit (it is all localized).

  2. Wanna know why a Volunteer Fire Department wouldn’t go over? CAUSE PEOPLE HAVE OTHERS THINGS TO DO! I dont go put out fucken fires for fun…. Its hot, dangerous and hard work. Why not privatize the Police and Road Workers too? These kids should be in school learning how the world really works. Stupidest Video EVER!

  3. Volunteer fire departments exist and work, our communities rely heavily on them.
It’s insulting to all the brave men and women who volunteer to imply it doesn’t work or they have better things to do.

  4. Yikes, I’m seeing more of this propaganda here than I thought I would. This video is trying too hard to be funny, and keeps missing it’s own logic fallacies. Are people like this the ones you really want to be following the advice of via proxy of sarcasm? I’d hope not…

  5. Jason – Volunteer FDs wouldn’t “go over”?? Whoa…I think you’re missing some important information. According to the NVFC, almost three-fourths of the nation’s 1,100,000 firefighters are volunteers, and two-thirds of all US fire departments are volunteer. These guys have other things to do too, I would think, but they also see a higher calling. All politics aside, VFD’s have been an American institution since Ben Franklin organized the first one in Philly in 1736. I know a lot of vols, and none of them are afraid of hot, hard work. They are to be admired and honored, not ridiculed.

  6. I think the point their trying to get across is that the fire department works, even though it follows socialistic ideologies. So therefore, any talk against government health care “Socialism” is also against fire, police, schools, etc. Unfortunately, their tone and attitude is offensive to most people over 30, so their point is lost to most of us.

  7. This is satire. The end of the video even says “this is satire.” if it did’nt it should have been obvious that this was satire. Unless your stupid. which you are.

  8. Pretty lame. If you wanted to categorize fire departments as socialist, I suppose you could, but it would be a very weak comparison at that. And despite what Brett stated; their tone and attitude aren’t offensive…just annoying.

  9. I am surprised how many people commenting missed the point of this video…

The point is that government funded fire fighting WORKS,
They are doing a satirical spin on the republican health care issue, changing the basic framework that is being used to argue against the health care reform and reworking it against firefighting.

Its really not that hard to understand or grasp… perhaps those that are offended or insulted by it are offended or insulted because it points out how stupid the republican arguments are
