Funny, something similar happened near me when I was growing up. Someone slipped on the ice and plowed down a street sign on the corner…leaving their license plate behind in the snow. Police called them up to inquire if they had and incidents with their car recently, which they denied (duh…if the police are calling YOU out of all people…they probably know something. Not like they’re going through the phone book randomly asking if people have been having problems.)
