not here, use a macbook pro and safari somewhat regularly to peruse B&P (use firefox on the macbook or on my PC more often). I have had sporadic issues with safari (OS X) and java (citrix/JRE) in general however. it’s almost a certainty it’s not .gifs doing it, it’s either underlying javascript or some java plugin if i were a betting man.
there were a couple previous issues with safari where safari cached a file that screwed up javascript… paul, try deleting cookies, clearing history, cached pages, etc in safari (and of course rebooting) then try again, it might be loading a cached file that’s corrupt or something.
All kinds of sites git hit today by hacker attacks, including Twitter and Facebook. The whole net’s been goofy all day.
firefox works fine.
Paul uses no protection, I slip one of my condoms over mine.
No. (FireFox 3.5.2)
There’s your problem! You’re using Safari!
No problems here, Firefox 3.0.13
No problem (FireFox 3.5.1)
No problems here with Firefox.
No problem (FireFox 3.5.1)
Just use Google Chrome, they got it right the first time.
420, no probs with Chrome here either.
I’ve found animated GIFs to be a bit slow in Safari sometimes but no crashes.
I use safari. No problems here.
(apologies for the thread swerve here) chrome users, have you found a decent ad-blocker yet? last time i looked there was only one or 2 that seemed half assed… if i could get chrome to the same functionality of firefox + adblock + noscript i’d switch but doesn’t seem there yet.
I have an old PowerBook G4… and I’m running Leopard, so the old and the new tend to clash sometimes for me. .gif files take a bit to load, but otherwise not problem.
Nope. I am on safari and I have never come across that.
TELL PAUL TO GET A PC!
I’ve been running safari for three days now. My blog the sturdy soapbox does crash and also windows live sign in crashes it big time.
I know there are some gifs on the soapbox maybe it is them ? I will check my content when those roll onto a previous page.
no problems here.
I have problems when I use lynx. However, I would rarely try to go to a photo blog with lynx anyhow.
I highly doubt that gifs are causing the crash. More than likely it’s a script issue, etc… ( i see jquery is being called in, for example). An older version of safari?
friends don’t let friends use Safari. :-p
Firefox works great!
Firefox & IE8 are OK
I say if you’re running Safari, run the newest version. Some things may slow it down and if it’s conking, the browser (or lack of computer ram?) obviously can’t handle it.
I usually use FF and I have never had a problem with it handling anything on B&P.
Safari works great. Firefox is clunky and obnoxious. I’d rather use I E.
Safari user here, works fine for me too.
I usually use Firefox and have no problems but I use Safari on occasion and have had it crash from time to time.
