Looking back at B&P

RevRick asked me the other day how long I’ve been doing Bits & Pieces.  I wasn’t sure, so I went back and looked it up.

The very first “Welcome” post was March 31, 2002.  I didn’t post every day back then.  The first actual content post wasn’t until April 3, 2002.

That’s 7 years 3 months and 15 days

Here’s what I posted that day:

Got Gas?
Had a little too much of Farkle’s chili… or one burrito too many? Here’s just the thing for you. Filtered underwear.

Lick this!
Don’t you wish you had a 17 inch tongue?  Link not correct anymore

An investigative survey.
Do you pick your nose?

  1. Good run, Jonco,I second Amyoops request. Do you think B&P should be declared a politics free zone? After all, there are plenty of sites available for that kind of chatter. Don’t we all come here to laugh and be entertained?

  2. PinB – My first reaction was to second your suggestion, but on reflection, as long as we keep our remarks civil, then I say bring it on. The best part of this site is the intelligence and (sometimes) thoughtfulness of the commentors. With Jonco keeping an eye on things, we all can have a good time.

  3. I thank you, my public thanks you, and the fifth generation of those ducks thank you too.

Sorry, got a little worked up there.

  4. You’re right Richard. We all remain reasonably civil and forgiving even when that vicious, vindictive, venom spewing, ignorant, uninformed, nosepicking, buttscratching, hateful, meanie, three-toed, unreasonable “other” side is making comments.

  5. You’ve been doing an amazing job for the last seven years, Jonco, and make sure to realize that your posts are read worldwide… I know what I’m talking about, being French and a regular reader of your website.
So, thank you and keep up the good work!!

  6. I think that Jonco is a good ‘mediator’ about what we post here. Then, if something is working, keep as is, don’t make any change.
Now, my question is: Can I use April 3 as Bit&Pieces’ birthday? That case, I’ll always remember, ’cause it’s the same as me. (Just another stupid thing to mention)
Thanks Jonco for all your work! My Fotolog page thank you for LOT of photos posted there!

  7. Sebastien (sorry I can’t put that accent mark above the “e” in your name): on a 1 to 10 scale, 10 being tops, how severe was your post Bastille Day hangover yesterday?
    Richard, I agree.
Rev, I agree with you, even if you’re part of the “vicious, vindictive, venom spewing, ignorant, uninformed, nosepicking, buttscratching, hateful, meanie, three-toed, unreasonable “other” side”……:-)

  8. Paul,
I rarely if ever intend to discuss politics here. The problem lies when one of our political leaders does something really funny or stupid that is captured on film or video. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Bush being pummeled with shoes or Obama caught with the wrong end of the phone up to his ear, if it’s not the readers guy, then he’s going to criticize the politicians policies. Then the argumentative discussion begins. My intention is to almost always just laugh at the humor in the situation…. that’s all.

  9. Jonco, Thank you for bringing this true form of entertainment to the public… if only you would know how many silent followers you have… Keep up the great work.

  10. Good job Jonco! I love that your first real post was about bottoms!!! Keep doing what you do! xxoo

  11. Great job Jonco! In celebration of this momentous occasion, can we have a B&P Convention in Las Vegas? I think it would be a wonderful experience for us all.

  12. Sure Bill… Who’ll pay my air ticket from EZE (Argentina) to MIA, and from there to Las Vegas?
Ok, Inside the Casino, I’ll use my own money, don’t take care of that!

  13. I have been checking this site for a long time now and never commented.

Anybody remember from way back the post he had where you could (click here and see your name in Russian)
yeah it was immature, but many a prank was pulled on people at work using that and I cant seem to find it anymore, last I knew the link didn’t work anymore.

  14. Good job Jonco, I can’t even remember how long I’ve been coming here every day.
    Rock on!
    (cheers from Hungary btw:))

  15. Lenny; you need to book with Southwest Airlines, they fly everywhere cheap. I’m not so sure about the Argentina to Miami connection, the best bet there is to book your ticket, and then win big at the tables!

  16. Your You’re the best of the funniest that the Internet has to offer!
Editors note: And I’m not bad at grammar.

  17. Keep up the good job, Jonco.

And he started with rear ends–at least he started at the bottom and worked his way up!

  18. I couldn’t have gotten thru the past two years without the posts, and the people on this site. Thanks for all the hard work Jonco.

  19. Rev,
wouldn’t it be cool if we could all become Americans again, instead of standing on opposite sides of the street yelling at each other?

  20. Paul…whhhoooosshshhh…..holding my breath….but, cool, yes, however, I fear it will take a major event to do it.
Kind of like when I was in the Marines. We’d talk about the doggies, zoomies, and swabbies and they’d talk about the jarheads. But when someone external (i.e. non-military) attacked us, we were all one. It took the threat to make us realize our common ground.

  21. I read Bits & Pieces everyday. I don’t remember when I started, but it’s been several years. Keep up the great work and Thank You for all the smiles and laughs you’ve given me!!!!!! Sue
