A list of life’s simple pleasures from Reddit. Here are a few examples:
- Waking up in the middle of the night, realizing you don’t have to wake up for several hours, rolling over and falling back asleep.
- When I was about 10-13 years old, I used to tell my parents to wake me up at 7:00 a.m (the normal time I used to wake up for school) on weekends, just so I could go back to sleep again.
- Sitting outside while it rains, sheltered by my deck, feeling the cool breeze and smell of the rain.
- I love getting packages in the mail. … except letterbombs. I’m not falling for that shit any more.
- sleeping naked on freshly laundered sheets
- My 11 month old daughter laughing.
- I enjoy sleeping with one leg out of the covers! The joy of staying warm and cool at the exact same time.
- Nothing beats a one wipe poo. AKA, the clean getaway.
- Smell of concrete after it rains on a warm day…
- Compile: syntax ok.
- Waking up and remembering what I dreamed.
- Seeing the clock turn to 11:11.
- When someone else using public transportation smiles back.
- The first, burning sip from a can of cola.
- Snooze button. I set my alarm for an hour before I have to wake up, because snooze button sleep is somehow extra restful for me.
- Biking down big streets at 2 in the morning after a midnight movie. 3 lanes all to myself.
- My dog giving me his paw without being told to
- Having a beer after 12 hours of work.
- Taking off my bra and putting my sweats on after work. Heavenly.
- Laying in bed at night, looking up at the stars, thinking “Where the hell did my ceiling go?”
- that short little window of time before sunset when all the reds and oranges seem more alive and vibrant as the cooler hues are fading.
- sleeping with the window open during a rainstorm and then hearing nothing but birds when i wake up.
- Following spots on the windshield and moving your head to make them zip around the road lines.
- resetting my junk when the alignment is off.
Some are quite funny and the comments are great too. A good read.

-Choosing to watch something other than the news

standing in the yard watching the snow float past the yard lights.
laying in the grass and looking at the stars with my kids.
sitting on the roof and watching fireworks from three different towns.
500 rounds of 22 brass at my feet and a few dead pop cans down range. (best stress relief known to man.)

– cycling through my city, Amsterdam, seeing it through tourists eyes, and realizing how beautiful it actually is
– finding money in an old pair of jeans
– Taking my shoes and socks off when I get home. (Bare feet should be more socially acceptable – they’re certainly more comfortable)
– Having a Pirt – a piss ending in a fart. Relief and comedy in a single action. (Mother Maffu raised classy kids.)
– A bluebell wood in spring. (I used to play in one as a kid. A green canopy with the ground carpeted in blue, all dappled with dancing sunlight, is one of the most beautiful and invigorating sights you’ll find short of human nakedness)

– The sound of rain in trees.
– The smell of long awaited rain on hot, dry pavements (or ‘sidewalks’ to our American cousins)
– The smell of fresh coriander.
– The smell of freshly bruised lavender.
– Water. Drinking it, being near it, looking at it, swimming in it. Tap, bottle, ocean, pool. Doesn’t matter. Water rocks.
