“This is a real video from a French documentary about Africa. There are trees that grow in Africa which, once a year, produce very juicy fruits that ferment to contain alcohol. Because there is a shortage of water, as soon as the fruits are ripe, animals come there to help protect themselves from the heat. What happens next? Watch for yourselves.”
It’s from a Disney Documentary called “animals are people too”. 1974.
Some of it was used in the TV film “Overdrawn at the Memory Bank” which starred Raul Julia, and was ripped mercilessly on Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Oh, that’s hilarious. It looks like this party I went to once.
I think Smoothie has got it right, I saw this the first time about 1980. Even then I thought it was a little creepy. You take away the funny music, and you have a collection of funny video clips of animals falling over. Some of them
might really be suffering from too much alcohol. but it just might as well have been from a tranquilizer shot or from the lead from a high velocity rifle. There was a scandal about Disney wild-life films around that time that they ‘fixed’ the animals to fit the storyboard.
It’s from a 1974 movie “Animals are Beautiful People”. South African movie directed by Jamie Uys. Nothing to do with Disney. Believe me it’s real. The fruit is called amarula, very tasty.
