A great ride

We had a great day to ride.  There were just a couple sprinkles of rain after we got there and a couple more close to home, but not nearly enough to stop and put on rain gear.

Bud and kathy
Our friends Kathy and Bud and their dog Zoey, stand in front of their 1966 (I think that’s what he said) Chevy II Chevelle that Bud is fixing up.

They met us for brunch at a nice little town restaurant in Waverly, Verda Mae’s, where we had brunch.  (The fried chicken was excellent.) Then we went back to their house which sits on 31 beautiful acres.  We caught up on a lot of things that have happened in the last forty years since we had seen them.  When it was time to go, they led us to the Double Dribble Ice Cream Parlor for a quick ice cream before we hit the highway.

The girls were in high school together and in September will be going to their 40th anniversary reunion.  The reunion website is how we got in touch with them in the first place.

Update:  It is a 1966 Chevy II.

  1. I thought he said it was a 62 Chevelle. But my wife said the personal license plates said 66 (that’s why I went with 66 – even though the back part doesn’t seem as sloped as I remember a 66 being).. Maybe Bud or Kathy will see this and set us straight.

  2. Great Website Jon! Checked it out this morning and was surprised to see the pic of us and the car.
And tell Pat she is right – it is a 66 Chevy II

It was great visiting with you guys and look forward to seeing you in September at the reunion.

    p.s. – It’s raining here now.

  3. I got a message via Classmates.com. It was from a (40 years ago) beautiful female and it said,
“Hiya DJ! Do you remember me? I remember you! I’m divorced!”
    That was the whole message.
Now what? I realize that we men get better lookin as we age, but wimmin…dunno.

  4. I’m thinkin about it Klaw, but it looks like I gotta spend mucho dinero on the site to be able to read her response. I’m just learning the scam there.
