The first testicular guard “Cup” was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974.
It took 100 years for men to realize that the brain is also important.

Funny, but not really true…helmets in hockey were first worn in the 1930s (though many players didn’t), but not mandatory until 1979. Helmets have been used in football since the 1940s. Though the cup still was first by several decades.
