  1. I think someone’s going to have to draw me a diagram of how these things are supposed to connect.
I never thought I’d find myself saying it but I feel a bit blonde.
In my defence I have never had a vehicle with a tow-bar. (and I’ve been drinking steadily for the last five hours).

  2. Ha ha ha, Maffu. Hope you don’t have a hangover tomorrow. Let’s just
say that the trailer when hooked up would be more in the position of the
space shuttle. It would be pointing straight up. Cheers.

  3. Maffu – I’ll give it a shot (one thing you’re NOT is blond!!)…

The large black part at the bottom of the pic needs to slide horizontally into the (horizontal) receiver under the center rear of the vehicle…the prob with this pictured one is the thinner, curved part holding the ball should in reality be rotated 90° clockwise and welded under that thicker part, so that the whole assembly is horizontal, with the chrome ball in a vertical position. The trailer’s hitch then drops down onto that ball and is locked around the stem of the ball.

    This might help:

Well done Deej! I couldn’t think of an explanation that didn’t use the terms ‘dick’ and ‘hole’! This may be why I was restricted from dealing with customers. Dunno..

  5. ^ Well I’ll admit, Bits, I though of that, and maybe it would have helped, but Maffu asked so nicely I thought I’d try to class it up just for once!!

  6. I used to own a 2006 Dodge Magnum with a factory trailer hitch. The receiver is vertical up behind the rear facia, so you can’t see the receiver from the back. When the hitch is mounted in the receiver the ball is in the perfect spot. It’s probably the same hitch used for the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. Sorry – it’s not so dumb after all!

  7. I agree with Bob, I have seen recievers mounted vertically behind the bumper to make them invisible. Not dumb, just interresting……kinda.
