Heat relief in Australia

An anonymous person sent in this from a friend of a friend in Australia.

In Victoria the temperature was above 44 degrees all last week and they are forecasting another week of 30+ temperatures.  Power is failing, trains have stopped running because tracks are buckling under the heat.  It’s just scorching and people are not the only ones suffering.

Check out these photos of a little Koala which just walked onto a back porch looking for a bit of heat relief.  The woman filled up a bucket for it and this is what happened!

  1. The animals are really struggling. We had 0.8ml of rain last month and not much over the last year. There just isn’t water lying around for them. It’s getting a bit scary!

  2. Not sure about snow but they don’t post so good. They are also as cranky as they are cute. With big sharp claws!! I like you to much to send you such a thing. They great to look at though!

  3. Don’t see what all the fuss is about in Oz regarding the temps, here in Abu Dhabi it averages above 40C for about 2 months. 46C was quite common last year.

  4. Hey, when I was in Kuwait in June/July of 2003, it was 130F in the shade. In the circus tent it would get to be over 150F.

That is HOT! And at that point it don’t matter if it is dry heat. It is darned hot!

At night it would cool off to the 90s.

Air Conditioning was only a dream!

  5. I read that Mama Koala was so disoriented from the heat that she wandered off and forgot about baby. The poor animals with no water.

Be careful All Aussies & Bitsy and I’m thinking about you and your families.

  6. Thanks Bella. We are in a good spot but are watching the hills for the almost inevitable smoke. Fingers crossed it doesn’t go up!
