B&P reader John C. sends along this picture taken from Stadium Hilton Hotel where he was staying last summer. If you notice the reflection in the window across the street you can see the window washers on the Hilton Hotel. Of course the South leg of the Gateway Arch is to the left.
Taken from John’s room.
John was also one of just 17 people to receive a gold plated ticket form the St. Louis Cardinals commemorating Bob Gibson’s contribution to the 1968 World Series by striking out 17 Detroit Tigers.
Thanks John… and congratulations!
I’ll bet hotel window washers have some stories to tell…
I was at that game, but no gold ticket for this little black duck. Congrat’s John C.
Yeh, Mr. Gibson had a good day. It was the Detroit Tigers that had the last laugh winning the series in seven games! That was some series!!!

I’d just as soon have a donut signed by Mickey Lolich. (Wiki)
So is it like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? Do you get into Cardinal games for free?
A quick side-note: We had 4 tickets to that game, but ended up only 3 going to the game. We got our first 3 souvenirs at the gate, checked ’em out they were neat, too- kind like a desktop paperweight replica of that World Series ticket- then we ate and looked around. I noticed the line at the gate was gone, so I exited and came back in to get the souvenir with the 4th ticket. ( I thought about scalping it). Went back to our seats and 5 minutes before the game started, they announced that Gibby was there and the existence of the 17 freshly- autographed goldies. What a shock when we opened that 4th one!
