An Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at President Bush today during a press conference held during the President’s unannounced visit to Iraq.

Bush is a pretty good ducker.

I guess this isn’t supposed to be funny… but I am just imagining the folks at SNL and the late night talk shows are writing jokes about this like crazy.

  14. I am not surprised at the quick reflexes. Remember, TEXANG 1LT George Bush flew F-102s. To be an Air Force Pilot your reflexes need to be above average.

    On a side note. Just over 5 years ago I missed a chance to be served my Thankgiving Turkey by President Bush when I was stationed at the Baghdad Airport (we called it BIAP).

    We didn’t know that President Bush had come to Iraq. Instead I ate at the 234th Signal Battalion Mess. The Company I was part of was loaned to them to bring them up to full combat strength. The cooks had been doing one heck of a good job feeding us from a field kitchen. They served us a super Thanksgiving dinner. I will always tip my hat to those cooks for the hard work they did 7 days a week to feed us. But they really busted their butts for Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!

    It still would have been nice to have seen President Bush. I respect him still very much as my CIC.

  17. Bloodyneptune, hitting someone with a shoe or even showing someone the bottom of your shoe is a grave insult in the arab world. Does anyone remember all the pictures of Iraqis hitting the toppled Sadam statue with their sandals? There was also a picture of Bush Sr. (I think) meeting with Qadafi and Qadafi had the sole of his foot pointed at Bush Sr., few outside the Middle East realized that Qadafi was, essentially, giving Bush Sr. the finger.

  33. The idiot Iraqi journalist threw his shoe at President Bush twice and missed? Bush should’ve taken his own shoes off and thrown a curve ball at the journalist and popped him in the face – twice. Bush wouldn’t have missed.

    Had this been a shoe-tossing directed at Saddam Hussein, the journalist would’ve been executed on the spot. At least he, along with the other 26.7 million Iraqis are now living in freedom. Can one of you liberal surrender-monkeys who excel in maniacal Bush hating by throwing garbage cans through windows teach this Iraqi journalist how to pitch, cut, and run?
