Touché Mike!
Fortunately I didn’t have to put it into the title… or I’d have been given the routine admonishment.
Thanks for this! It’s so true. Why is it so important for everyone to respect religion by not questioning it? Just because millions believe it does not make it true. Furthermore, respect must be earned.
The people who actually do that are very few, but they get the biggest media and internet coverage. The ones who build schools, water wells, and hospitals in the less fortunate countries, the ones who go to those countries to perform free surgeries and to educate, the ones who donate time and money there, they are largely ignored or downplayed. 😡
Oops… that face looks hostile, it mean to be this : x which I meant to express “No offense meant to anybody!” 🙂
more unfounded anti-religion trype
Jimbo,
tripe.
And unless you’ve spent time on the other side, I would suggest you truly have no idea.
Have you?
Michael Franti says it best:
“You say you’re a Christian cause god made you
and you say you’re a Muslim cause god made you
you say you’re a Hindu and the next man a Jew
Then we all kill each other cause god told us to”
The CD is named “Yell Fire”, the song is “Hello Bonjour”
More people have died on this planet over history in the name of religion than from anything else.
YAY PAUL!
unfounded anti-religion trype? What the Hell does that mean?
It’s a cartoon. What’s unfounded by that? And it’s spelled tripe, my friend.
YAY JON!!!
Isn’t all religion itself pretty much “unfounded”?
Struck a nerve there, eh?
Methinks thoust all doeth protesteth too much.
What you be smoking Jonco. You are usually pretty lucid and are open to all comments. Looks like your true colors are coming through on this one.
I am referring to how the cartoon is over generalizing religion. Not all believers are religious zealot kooks.
So I mispelled Tripe. So what? And I don’t recall you being my “friend” either. So stuff the indignant sarcastic tone.
Religion has killed more? Better count that up cause I think non-religious ideoogy has killed more.
nazis and commies and the plague alone.
By no means is religion clean. Lots of blood on the hands of Government and Religion combined. But to say more people have died because of religion is not factual.
Mike Firesmith – I AM on the other side right now. I believe in Christ and get shit about it all the time.
Mr. Hassler,
I don’t be smoking anything. I like to think I’m open to almost all comments. I printed yours even though I didn’t understand it at all. I also don’t understand the comment about ny “true colors coming out”. What does that mean?
When I first saw the cartoon was that I thought it was thought provoking and might make people think. What was impressed on me was the fact that we should all try to respect each other more, regardless of what our personal beliefs are. We’re not always 100% right all the time. Other people have feelings and opinions that aren’t less valuable than ours just because we look at something differently. I for one, don’t think all believers are crazy fanatics anymore than I believe all atheists wear their beliefs on their shirts to piss off the religious people.
I welcome your comments… I just want to understand them.
My apologies if I was too informal with you.
Understood and thank you letting me post to your blog.
And I apologize for being too acrid.
Jimbohassler, the reason why people feel hatred towards Christians or “religious” people are because some attack others for not believing in what they do. Some extremists have done horrible, terrible things in the past, but they do not represent the whole. Unfortunately many do take those to represent the whole. The best the rest can do is to continue to spread the love. Yes they do get prejudiced, but don’t become bitter.
This should raise a few comments lol….
Well, at least they spelled it right……….Jon.
