New record set yesterday for B&P hits

Yesterday we set a new record for page views on B&P.  Depending on what stats you look at.  I have no idea which is more realistic…. and I think I’m looking at them right.

  1. Wow! Congrats! And we didn’t even have a political war going on!
(BTW – I think you owe each and every one of your fans a beer!)

  2. Right on, Jonco!! This is an awesome site. You can tell that we loves you, can’t ya. And DJ is correct.
This meeting will come to order, I’ll second that, aanndddd… Passed!! I Love Canadian (yes it’s a real beer and me thinks the bestest) but I’ll have a Bud for You. Cheers. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. Yay! I saw you linked on Neatorama yesterday too.

Maybe it’s all the people who were offended and left during the campaign times and reached their withdrawal limits realizing they can’t live without their daily dose of b&p!!

  4. Wow, I wonder if we’ll get flooded with new people and all us old timers will say, “There goes the neighborhood”

I think the spike might e due to the elections are over, people are too broke to leave the house, and that post where you promised nude photos of Bella.

  5. jon i have been clicking on and off this site about 400000 times a day..i was hoping you would make it big so i could borrow money from ya

  6. anyone else curious as to why the counters are so far apart?

Congrats on the spike. I love this site and visit daily and have for quite awhile! Let me know when you want to expand and need to hire… I’m a fellow American who’s down on his luck (wonder how many readers are old enough to appreciate the Bugs Bunny reference?)

    Keep it up old boy!!!

  7. Was there a post that prompted that?

Don’t get TOO popular, now. Otherwise people will know where I get my funny pictures from.

  8. I think the spike’s due to the fact that you were added to stumbleupon… (at least, I wound up stumbling across the site probably on Wednesday)

That would certainly influence your visitor levels…

  9. More hits came from StumbleUpon than any other source. And the post with the most hits was “I guess some things never change”: http://bitsandpieces.us/2008/11/07/i-guess-some-things-never-change/. It’s been drawing quite a few hits every day since it was posted.
I’ve had hits from StumbleUpon for quite some time, so that’s not new.

As far as getting too popular….. It is getting harder and harder to find the time to go thru all the comments, the regulars which usually go thru automatically) and the new ones or the ones with links or dirty words which I have to approve before they show up. Then I have to go over the spam comments that show up by the droves every day to make sure a legitimate comment doesn’t end up getting deleted. I usually get about 100 spam comments a day now… and maybe that many legitimate comments too. So it is becoming a bit time consuming.

And…. I have a couple of projects that I do before the holidays which takes up some of my time…so things might get a little lighter for a short while, but I’ll be here every day if at all possible.

  10. Joe P,
400,000 times. Hmmmm, my stat counter aren’t very good at all then. I hope you’re also clicking on some ads too while you’re doing tall that clicking.
BTW: Your check is in the mail.

  11. Dave C,
I wonder too about the difference in the stat counters. I have no idea which is closest to being accurate…, but I’m leaning towards the one built into WordPress…but I’m not sure why. It would be a little different because it starts a new day at 7 pm…. where I think the others kick over at midnight…or I assume they do.

  12. Awesome, it’s always great to set a new traffic record, but I too hope b&p doesn’t get too popular because I like having unique things to pass along to people–not the same old stuff that makes the rounds on digg/reddit/etc. Besides, I like the content as a whole better here than just about anywhere.
