How to make lasagna in your dishwasher

Dishwasher-Lasagna-PouchesAccording to partselect.com, you no longer need an oven to cook lasagna and can get great results from a two hour cycle in your dishwasher.

Here are their “trusty” cooking directions:

  • Set dishwasher on normal cycle and select ‘heated dry’ and ‘sanitize’ for extra heat. This cycle should take about two hours.
  • Once the cycle is completed, let the lasagna stand for a few minutes before serving.

  1. Step Three – Call poison control immediately!

Actually, I’m pretty sure it’d work…but I’m just thinking of how many years I’ve had my dishwasher and how much soap-residue must be in there by now.

  2. Seems like this could go real wrong real easy.

For some reason, this reminded me of an old family legend regarding a combination clothes washer/dishwasher unit that my parents had early in their marriage. You had to do something to it to convert from one function to the other. Unfortunately, after a party allegedly involving heavy drinking, the machine was loaded with dishes and glassware, but without making the conversion from clothes washer to dishwasher. I guess that agitation cycle was a real bitch, because numerous family members talked about it for more than 50 years after.

I was always suspicious if such a unit really existed, but I found an ad for the thing…

That would be a fairly good guess, DJ.

It also would be something Jon would post here if anyone had taken photos.

But then you’d have eight people screaming “SHOPPED!”

  4. I remember the late Justin Wilson said some cajuns would wash their collards in the washing machine,or those other crazy people that cook meals on top of the car engine while going down the road in tinfoil like that, crazy stuff out there
