I had a couple interesting things happen today while driving around town.
Politicos: I was running some errands early this afternoon when I ran into the motorcade of Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden. Actually, he was just getting on the highway and I was heading the opposite way, so I wasn’t held up or anything. They had stopped the traffic on the interstate behind where he was getting on, so his entourage would have a clear shot to the airport. Biden was in the area at a campaign rally.
Barack Obama and Sarah Palin were also in Missouri today. Obama will be back in Missouri on Saturday. No sightings of John McCain to my knowledge.
Then this evening, I had run my grandson up to the hight school football game and on the way back to my house a deer darted in front of me. Right on my little dead-end street. I can’t believe I didn’t hit it. It was RIGHT THERE! I slammed on my brakes and somehow missed it by inches (if that much). I obviously should have been paying more attention, but it seemed to just appear out of nowhere. We see deer on our street fairly often, but I’ve never had one run out in front of me before. Usually they just mosey on across the road up ahead or are standing on the side of the road.
Thank God you missed the deer. I JUST watched a whole segment on (I think) The Today show on how deadly it is to hit deers.
We have the same problem with kangaroo`s…hit one of those and you can write your car off in an instant.Bull bar or not.So im glad you made it home safely mate.
Happened last night on the way back from the gym in Soco. Jumped in between me and a car in front of me. I braked but the car coming the opposite way didn’t see it and nailed her. Jumped right out of the woods. Good thing speed limit was only 35.
Deer are random. You were lucky.
They are everywhere here out in West County and they have become very tame. When I walk the dog I can get within six to ten feet of them.Glad you missed it.
this same thing happened to me on my way to school i wished we’d hit bambee tht way we could have gotten out of school the dear scared the living hell out of my bus driver
Poodlekiss, be careful. They have lost their fear of the human and there have been cases of folks being attacked and seriously injured by ‘tame’ deer.
When driving, I bumped one pretty hard on the rump once. The only injuries were a stain on the bumper and in my seat…
