B&P poll: Who will Jonco vote for?

Today I received an email stating that I was a “full fledged democrat”.  I’ve been called a right wing Republican too.  I’ve also been called a jerk, idiot, and even an asshole… all for political things I’ve posted that I found elsewhere… things that I thought were either funny, thought provoking or just interesting.

So, just for fun, what impression have I made on you?  How do you think I’ll vote on November 4th?

Please don’t tell me how stupid I am for voting for a particular candidate… or why I should vote for your guy.  I just want your gut feeling on how you think I’ll vote on election day based on the posts and what you know about me.

  1. I like your political posts. They’re all in good humor and are pretty well balanced. I give you 5 stars for your political humor coverage Jonco.

  2. That is the beauty of the secret ballot. It’s nobody’s business how you vote.

I may not disagree with another persons politics but I am not going to resort to name calling a-la, “I’ve also been called a jerk, idiot, and even an asshole…..”
What the hell, if I call someone a liberal it is because they espouse liberal policy. Not because it is some sort of putdown.

  3. Jonco,

This has been a heated topic on your B&P site. I know you have had some tempers flare and threats to not view your site anymore, all in the name of politics. I think you have tried to be fair in posting both sides when content was available. Thanks for all your work in maintaining this site.

    Happy voting!

  4. Keep up the good work !! Just make sure you vote.

You should not be involved in politics, or even discussing issues, if you are afraid of offending someone.

  5. Your site is well balanced. It is none of my business how you vote. I first started reading your site at the end of the 2006 baseball season. The Mets fan’s letter was hilarious.

There are lots of political zingers for both sides. I just want to reiterate that you appear to be balanced and pass on things as you find them.

    thanks for great entertainment!

    Dave

  6. While I think the outcome of this election is significant and will make a huge impact on the world and the way the world sees the U.S., I also believe that the framers of the Constitution were correct in saying that voting requires a secret ballot.

Jon (and all B&P readers), if you vote is all that matters. Don’t just listen to the campaign speeches and the rhetoric. Especially do not just read blogs, they are notorious for being partisan. If you do read them, try to balance both sides of the spectrum just as you should watch both NBC/ABC/CBS and FOX to get both sides. Don’t just listen to the polls and then decide you want to be on the winning side so you then vote for the current leader in some poll.

Make an informed choice on the issues that really matter to you. If that is the color of a candidates clothing or where they stand on the war in Iraq, at least research the candidates position.

Jon, how you will vote will be your choice and is not for me to say or second-guess. Only you will know what you actually did in the booth. I respect your right to privacy as well as your right to choose as you see fit. That is what makes the U.S. so great. The people choose the government. (and they get the government they deserve)

On November 4th, vote, but vote informed.

  7. glassboth.org lets you choose the issues that are most important to you then creates a chart on how the candidates relate to your views

  8. Sadly, I think you’ll vote for the old guy who’s a bit out of touch with with reality, and his trusty side kick, aka, she who thinks my family should be “tolerated,” but not given any legal protection.

  9. Let’s see….open-minded, listens to and respects a variety of views, values diverse personalities, can laugh at himself, is more interested in results than taking credit….seems pretty obvious to me…..

  10. Hey Jonco, I, too feel that you have been fairly balanced and I don’t care who you vote for, I still enjoy this site. As a McCain supporter, I realize that there is a LOT more humorous material focused on him and Palin out there but that’s fine. Anyone that resorts to name-calling is just out of real ideas, anyway. BTW, I come here everyday and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon! Keep up the fun posts as this is sometimes the only place I can go to escape all of the BS in the world that gets us all down.

  11. Chris A,
The poll choices are not always in the same location. Every time you load the page it rearranges them in a random order to not always have one name first.
I assume you mean Bob Barr and Ralph Nader. Barr is running on thew Libertarian Party and Nader is running as an Independent.

  12. Has Nader ever NOT been on the ballot? I think he’s the sample the printers put on the ballots, like the pictures of random people they put in new wallets.

  13. Jonco,
I would again like to apologize for my statement….this time publicly.
I certainly did not mean to offend in any way.

  14. Rick,
No offense taken! I just thought it would be interesting to see how people thought I would vote. I was thinking about doing this when I got your email.
No apology necessary. You were very nice about it …. and didn’t call me any names… except a “full fledged democrat” and I’ve been called a lot worse. Thanks for reading and commenting.
