4. a) Buddy Ebsen (everybody knows that one)
b) W.C. Fields (betcha didn’t know that one, though)

7. Colin Clive (trick question. Boris Karloff played the Monster)
8. Seven
9. Mexico, Canada and Russia

11. Only one. Then the hole wouldn’t be empty any longer
12. Canada
13. 70
14. “…old Jed’s a millionaire…”
Number 8 – Zero, one or two, depending on how you look at the problem.
Zero if you drove (by car ferry) across the oceans/Europe/Asia and around the world.
Or one, if you drove from the east coast of Alaska, across Alaska to the west coast of Alaska.
Or two, If from Maine you drove into Canada, across Canada and down into Washington State.
Think outside of the box! If you assume rules than you have to live by rules. I prefer to make up my own rules when none are stated.
Great quiz. I only knew 4a, 4c, 5, 6, 9, 12, and 13 off the top of my head.
Question 11 is just MEAN. The answer would be 46,656, but noooo. The question is voided once the hole is no longer empty. How cruel. 😀
Ditto Jimbo on the quiz. Got 3 of 4 on Q1, 2 (used to live there) and knew 5,6,8,9,12, and 13. Damn you 14, know I can’t get that song out of my head!
I don’t understand how Alaska can be the Westernmost AND Easternmost state.
Because the aleutian islands extend into the eastern hemishphere.
Tasha, A few of its islands are on the other side of the international date line I think is the answer.
keywest is the southernmost point in the US. theres a giant statue there saying it too
http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11310
Keywest is southernmost in the continental US; Hawaii’s not part of the continental US.
Key West is much further north than Hawaii, though. 😉
C, That statue says “Continental United States.” We are not just talking about the contiguous 48 states. Ka Lae, Hawai is the southern most point in all 50 of the states.
Those of you who claimed to know #5 are wrong.
Castro was never a major league ballplayer and that’s just a blatantly stupid question.
I believe Trivial Pursuit identifies Juneau AK as the largest geographical town in the US.
I didnt even try,its too much for my blonde brain
Shirely Temple was never cast in the role. Only considered. I think it’s the same with Reagan. 11. Assumes you’re adding the cubes one by one.
Ther are a couple of errors in this quiz. Sitka, Alaska is the largest U.S. city (Jacksonville is the largest in the contiguous U.S.). Also, the current three largest cities by population are Tokyo, Mexico City and Seoul…
I always thought Shanghai was the most populous city, but that was probably true only 40 years ago! I knew most of the others. But I could’ve sworn Atlanta covered the largest area of land. Anyone who tries to drive across it thinks so. Granted, it takes longer to drive across New York City, but that’s so much more interesting you don’t notice the time. And yes, you can get 27 cubes in the empty hole if you drop them all in at once!
About the empty hole.
27 cubes all at once if they are 1′ (foot) cubes.
The question asks 1″ (inch) cubes.
So all cubes at once would require 46656 of them.
