…. and Andrea Mitchell can’t get a name right.
I’m only posting this because of the error Andrea Mitchell made in presenting the now infamous quote.
She refers to the interview on KTRS and the interviewer as McGraw Hill. KTRS is a St. Louis talk radio station. I listen to this station and the interviewer she refers to is McGraw Milhaven, not McGraw Hill. They make books!
I guess it is easy to screw that up. There’s no telling how many people’s hands that info went through before it reached MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell.
It reminds me of an incident I had when I was 18. I was working in a convenience store and there was a cleaners across the street. Some young punks had been going in there and harassing the manager, an elderly woman, threatening her and taking money from her cash register. This happened several time. One day I saw three or four of these kids enter the cleaners. I called the cops and headed over there. As I entered two were behind the counter and one was near the door. They were about 13 years old I guess. I corralled all three of them and held them until the police arrived and took them away. Anyway, to make an already long story shorter, I saw my name in the paper the next day as having foiled this robbery attempt. The paper had my age as 24. No one at the scene had asked me my age. I guess the police responding just guessed.
Hey, maybe you seemed really mature for your age.
I used to get the opposite. Even when I was almost 30, someone asked what grade I was in.
Well Jonco… your a credit to society and that’s what counts… I work for HP and have for 28 years… Bill and Dave were Awesome to the Max to work for… they are gone, and so are there values… Carly the Ex CEO for HP was paid 21 million dollars to leave the company… WTF is wrong with that picture… Mark Hurd took over, and stock has increased some, although his power and hunger also is paying a price, in he doesn’t really care about American Workers and or the business he took over along with the people who created such a business that has core values in what Bill and Dave installed in us.
examples of then and now:
Back then, if business took a turn for the worse we all suffered equally, or had a day off every other week when times where slow, straight across the board including Bill and Dave.
Back then, if the business made a profit, after investing in R&D to keep business going in the future every body split the profit as a percentage on what every your pay was… but the percentage was straight across the board, from Bill and Dave down to the janitor, all got the same percentage of your annual salary.
Back then team work was awesome, and every body worked together for a common goal and was rewarded daily in leaving early and and or we got free coffee and donuts.
Back then it was fun to work, and management empowered you, and VALUED WHAT YOU DID, no matter where you were on the scale, you where that professional who knew that part best.
Things change…
Now during and after Carly, if business takes a turn hundreds if not thousands get WFR’ed (Work Force Reduction AKA getting fired)
Now or in Carly’s day she got 4 or 5 percentage points higher then the work force in profit sharing… in Mark Hurds realm is somewhat the same as Carly’s at first but now we just don’t get any, along with making 3 billion profit a quarter.
Now team work is no longer and management has everyone working only for them selves making a cut throat work environment, you pay for your coffee and donut if you want one, and your rarely rewarded for anything because lower management gets graded on how much money they save, not how productive there people are.
Now work sucks the big one… and management belittles you, saying things as your lucky we have a job, and never really wants to hear anything you have to say etc.. We have become a disposable society of humans here, and if you don’t like it we will back fill you with someone off the street.
Now if making a Quarter come in on target HP just Cuts hundreds of jobs to make the numbers come out right on paper, disposing the very seed that made this company great and a great place to work.
Now we are just a bunch of waste or disposable people/trash, with no re-investment of R&D to keep us going in the future.
but my point is in this Carly video, Keith Olberman said it best, when referring to Carly’s statement was maybe they can’t run a big business like HP, but then again, they didn’t get paid 21 million to get rid of them either… lol…
Sorry I got long winded… I find out Next Monday if I have a job until the next Quarter’s cut… Such a Wonderful place …lol
wow jon your my hero…..see ya this weekend…
