State of the art garage in Germany

Talk about German efficiency! The photo was taken at a new parking garage in Munich . The actual space that the facility occupies is approximately only 20% of a comparable facility with the traditional design that is used primarily in the US . Not only is the German structure less expensive to build, but vehicles are also ‘retrieved’ in less time and without the potential of being damaged by an attendant.

Update:  I’ve been informed by B&P readers that this is not a regular garage, but a storage facility (garage) at the Volkswagen factory where cars are stored after they’re built.  More info here and here.  It’s pretty cool, nonetheless.

  1. Fascinating. This could be a course in learned adaptation. The concept could be applied in businesses other than warehouse storage.
