Weekend Open Mic

Weather: Looks like we’ll be seeing lots of May flowers with all the April showers we’re getting.

The Weekend: Drywall is all in and the mudding has begun.  It won’t be long before painting will commence.  I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel now.  It’s far away and dim but I can see it. That will pretty much consume my weekend except for dinner out with friends Sunday evening.

Weekend Open Mic

Weather: April showers and fluctuating temperatures are normal for this time of year in this part of the country.

The weekend:  We did our fifth trivia night in 6 or 7 weeks on Friday night.  It’s a lot of fun but I’m glad that’s over with.My riding mower has been in the shop for a tune-up this past week and it’s ready to be picked up.  And right on time as the grass is starting to get a little high in some places.

My patio room is about 3/4 drywalled.  I hope to get the rest done this weekend and can start the mudding process after that.  I’m thinking about redoing an adjoining wall that could use a replacement while the construction mess is already here.  If I decide to do that the process will take a little longer.

We’re going to a fundraiser dance on Saturday that benefits the Make-A-Wish foundation.  Other than that I expect to be home most of the weekend.

Website:  B&P is running well since I got the plugin issue fixed.  I got a lot of nice comments on Friday with it being the 15th anniversary of the website.  It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since I started it.

Weather: Fluctuating temperatures and raining off and on… it sure looks like springtime in St. Louis.

Website Troubles: After a pretty normal week Friday brought a crash on the B&P site.  Apparently, there was a problem with a plugin because once they removed all of the plugins the site was back up and running.  I’ve reactivated 3 plugins that help on the back end of the site where I do most of my work.  Without all the plugins the site should load quite a bit faster.  I plan on leaving it that way for the weekend anyway and will have another look at it on Monday.  I’d be interested in any thoughts you’d care to share.

The weekend:  I’m planning on starting the drywall installation in my patio room over the weekend.  I keep running into things I need to finish first.

Weather: Spring has sprung, well sort of.  We had cold and a little snow last week but the coming week is shaping up to not be too bad.  I can live with this weather.

The Weekend:  I’m going to a WordPress conference called WordCamp here in St. Louis on Saturday.  Sunday I’ll probably be working on the patio room and going to dinner with friends.

Weather:  This weather is nuts!  It was 75ºF on Thursday, much colder on Friday and we’re in for an inch or two of snow on Saturday and a hard freeze Saturday night.

The Weekend: We’re doing another trivia night on Saturday evening.  I’ve been working on that much of the week. On Sunday I hope to work on the patio room and catch up on things at home.

Computer: It’s sure been nice being able to work on my computer without worrying about it crashing all the time. While it was in the shop I was using my laptop.  While it’s a nice laptop there’s no comparison to my desktop setup.

Sad News:  Gerard Vlemmings, of the Netherlands, who has run The Presurfer website since 2000 passed away just a couple of weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer.  If you haven’t visited The Presurfer you’ve missed a lot of interesting posts.  I’ve shared many of his things on B&P.  The internet has gotten a little darker with his passing.  R.I.P.

Spring Forward: Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour Sunday morning for Daylight Saving Time. Well, those clocks that don’t automatically change, anyway.

Weather:  After breaking the record for the warmest February on record in St. Louis it’s still pretty nice out there.

Computer Woes Begone:  After a couple of weeks of intermittent crashes and searching online for solutions and exhausting my patience and technical abilities I took my computer in for service.  Turns out there was a bad memory chip that was the culprit.  The crashes had corrupted Windows and it needed to be reinstalled.  They let me come in and copy the important files to a second hard drive so I wouldn’t lose them.  They reinstalled Windows 10 and replaced the memory card all covered under warranty.  When I got it back home I had to reinstall all of the programs I use. I am now back to normal.  YAY!

The Weekend:  We’re having a family birthday celebration Saturday evening so we’ll be cleaning and prepping for that.  No firm plans for Sunday but I’ll either work on the patio room or work on getting ready for another trivia night presentation next Saturday.

TV Binging:  Haven’t had too much time to watch TV this week.  Got in a few more episodes of Mad Men and watched our regular shows, 24, This is Us, The Walking Dead, and The Talking Dead. Something else I like to watch is starting back up this week but I can’t think of what it is at the moment.

Weather: We’ve had unbelievably warm weather this last couple of weeks.  It got up over 80°F a couple of days and into the 70s for quite a few more.  Unbelievable for February in the midwest. Reality came back hard Friday night.  While not as nice as it has been, the week ahead still isn’t bad for late February and Early March.

The Weekend:  We’re presenting a trivia night for a local high school organization Saturday evening.  In two more weeks, we’ll be doing another one for a different organization and two weeks after that a third one for a girl scout group.

Patio room: I worked outside this week on the siding since the weather was so nice.  I have it basically done except for some trim pieces around the window and the roof over the doggy door. Now that cooler weather is here I can get back to working on the inside.  Click image to enlarge.

I always enjoy watching the Oscars so that’s my plan for Sunday evening.

Computer woes:  I’m still having crashes on my PC. Two or three times a day.  I’m getting really good at saving whenever I make a change to something.  I’ve tested the disk drives, the memory, and the system files. All tests came back normal.  I’ve gone through and updated all the hardware drivers. Do you know how many drivers are on your computer?  Probably about a hundred.  I had to manually check for updates on each one.  There were some that needed to be updated but they didn’t stop the crashes. I’m about to the point that I’ll have to take it in and have someone look at it.

TV Binging:  Haven’t had a lot of TV time this week but did squeeze in a few more episodes of Mad Men.  I think I like it, but they sure do a lot of smoking on that show.

Weather: In a word – Unbelievable for mid-February in these parts.

The weekend: I’ll be working on siding and outside lighting this weekend since the weather will be so nice.  Hopefully, I’ll get most of the outside work done for now.

TV Binging: We just started watching Mad Men the other night. Not sure if I’ll stick with it or not. I’m only two episodes in and it’s seven seasons long.  I thought about starting over with The Sopranos, which I think is my all time favorite series.

Weather: After 70-degree weather last weekend to highs in the 20s on Wednesday and Thursday, it reached 70 again on Friday. It’s supposed to cool off a little but still not too bad for mid-February.

My weekend:  I plan on spending much of the weekend working on the patio room and yard this weekend.

Computer woes:  I’m still having sporadic BSOD (blue screen of death) crashes.  I still haven’t figured out what’s going on. I’ve tested the memory and hard drives and no errors were found. It happens once every day or two, so as long as I keep saving my work it’s bearable, yet frustrating.

Weather: A mild weekend gives way to colder weather later in the week.

The weekend:  I plan on working on my patio room this weekend except for a pre-planned dinner with friends on Saturday evening.
