Las Vegas:  Our big B&P Goes to Las Vegas is next weekend.  I’ll be leaving on Thursday.  I’m going to try and pre-post some things before I go, but there will be fewer posts than usual for the next week or so.  I’ll have an open mic while we’re gone also.   I think I might just do just one Open Mic and pint it to the top of the page. Posting from Las Vegas will be sporadic I suspect.   A final email will go out to all attendees on Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s not too late if you want to join us in Vegas!

Sunday:  I’ll be away most of the day Sunday as I’m going to a big Memorial Day Pignic.

Tuesday:  I’ll be away half the day on Tuesday because I’ve been asked to do some fill-in work at the local Toyota dealer.

With all this time away I’m not sure when I’ll have time to pre-post things but I’ll try.

Summertime: We’re finally experiencing some summer weather here as the temperature is supposed to hit 90°F today and tomorrow.  Then we’re supposed to get some rain Sunday night and Monday and cool off a bit for a few days.  The last 10 days or so have been just beautiful here.

We’re going to a big bash at my son’s place this afternoon/evening.  Lot’s of food and drink and a band.  Should be fun!

What’s going on in your world?

My mom died 17 years and two days ago.  Somehow I didn’t remember this on Thursday, the 11th of May that it was the anniversary of her death.  It was a Friday back in 1995 when she died.  We had her visitation on Mother’s Day and we buried her that Monday.

My mom died 17 years and two days ago.  Somehow I didn’t remember this on Thursday, the 11th of May that it was the anniversary of her death.  It was a Friday back in 1995 when she died.  We had her visitation on Mother’s Day and we buried her that Monday.

I had been to the hospital in the town of Farmington MO where she spent her last few days and had just gone home about 3:00 pm.  When I got home from the 2 hours drive back to St. Louis I got the call that she had passed away.  I didn’t have a cell phone and they had no way of getting hold of me until I got home.  I got back in the car and drove back down to Farmington to see Mom before they took her away.  My aunt (Iva) had come up from Florida to stay with my mom for the last couple of months.  They had left her in her bed in her room until I returned.  I wish they had taken her away before I got there.  I felt bad for her roommate that she had to be there.  I was able to make the funeral arrangements while I was there.   So, Mother’s Day is always a little bittersweet for me.  Anyway, I hope you all have a good Mother’s Day.

Another week has rolled around.  In less than three weeks we’ll be in Las Vegas.  I’m really looking forward to it.

Another week has rolled around.  In less than three weeks we’ll be in Las Vegas.  I’m really looking forward to it.

I’m going to be out most of the day.  We’re going to attend grandkids sporting events and then do lunch.  We’re talking about catching a movie later this aternoon or evening.  We’re having the family at our house tomorrow for Mother’s Day and May birthdays (which is the busiest birthday month in our family).

I’m going to be out for most of the day today.  Then this evening we’re going to dinner with friends.

Las Vegas is less than 4 weeks away!  It’s still not too late to join us.  We have 15 people attending.  There will be prizes and surprises. 

Weather: We’ve had storms and threat of storms for the last couple of weeks.  It looks like things will settle down a little in a couple of days and cool off. It’s been about 90°F here for a while but is supposed to drop into the 70′s for the high temperatures later in the week which is more typical of May.

Books: I don’t read a lot but I’m reading Stephen Kings “11/22/63” novel which is about a guy who can go back in time and he tries to change history by preventing the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on that fateful day.  As I said I don’t read a lot of books because it just takes me so long to finish one, but this one is intriguing and has kept my interest so far.  I’m about 40% into it now.  I probably won’t finish it for a month or so.   I do a lot of reading in the bathroom .  My wife is reading the same book.  She started later than I did and is a lot farther ahead than I am.

Gus & Trixie:  I need to take the dogs in for their annual rabies vaccination.  I might try to do that today.

We’ve had some serious storms roll through the St. Louis area the last day or two.  More unsettled weather is on tap for today and actually the next few days.  Where I live it was just rain, but some areas were pummeled with hail as large as 3 inches in diameter.  I just had $4,790 worth of hail damage from storms a few weeks ago, repaired on my vehicle this past week.

One man was killed and more than one hundred people were injured, 5 critically, when a storm lifted a giant tent at a bar and dropped it on patrons who had gathered to celebrate a Cardinals baseball victory.  This happened at a bar right outside Busch Stadium about an hour after the game ended.  Read about it at FOX2 and KSDK-TV and KMOV-TV and STLToday.

So, weather is the big story here today.  It’s all quiet right now but another round of bad weather is headed this way now.

I’m working on a few little things around the house today.  I need to cut my grass before the storms roll in later this afternoon.  There is a chance of rain or storms every day for the next week.

Another week flies by and we get closer to Las Vegas.  Just 5 weeks!

I’m working on a few little things around the house today.  I need to cut my grass before the storms roll in later this afternoon.  There is a chance of rain or storms every day for the next week.

Diet and Exercise: I’ve been walking a mile every other day.  The street I live on is a little over a half mile long, so I’ve been walking to the end of the street and back.  I’m ending my second week of doing that.  I should probably be doing it every day or going a little farther but so far that’s what I’ve been doing.  I’ve worked on changing my diet.  I’ve had very little sugar besides what I get in fruits that I eat. I’m supposed to watch my fat intake as I have high triglycerides.  I did splurge last night and had 3 of Popeye’s chicken strips and a slice of pepperoni pizza.  I still haven’t gotten around to checking ouyt the links you guys sent me but I have them bookmarked.  I lost about 5 or 6 pounds since i started this, but that’s about all.  I don’t really need to lose weight I just need to get in better shape and move that weight to the right places.

We’re off on a back-roads ride to Eureka MO.  We’ll end up at Super Smoker’s BBQ for lunch.  It’s sunny and 47°F right now but they’re saying we might get a couple showers today and the high in the upper 50s..
