Reporter fakes storm report

Romanian news reporter Adrian Boioglu was left red faced after he was caught faking a sand storm live on TV after turning up too late to capture the real thing.

The bungling reporter convinced an assistant to stand just outside the camera shot and kick sand towards his direction. He was caught out however when a cheeky, or shockingly bad, cameraman let those watching at home in on the secret.

Laundry prank goes horribly wrong

A dad put baby in washer machine in an apparent prank. When he closed the door it automatically locked and the machine started up tossing the child around inside. The parents were frantically trying to stop the machine and open the door but to no avail. After an agonizing minute or so an employee was able to hit the circuit breaker and pry the door open. The parents took the child and left. The father came back a few minutes later to collect their clothes and said the child was OK. The police were notified and are looking for the family.

Zookeeper Saves Tiny Monkey By Licking Its Butt Until It Poops. Seriously!

Earlier this week a zookeeper at Wuhan Zoo in China named Zhang Bangsheng put his tongue to work in a most unpleasant way to help a small monkey in need. The monkey, a Francois’ langur, is just three months old and is a very rare specimen. Thus, he’s worth going the extra mile for. (Not that all monkeys aren’t worth that, but you know what I mean.)

So Zhang Bangsheng takes care of this monkey, and several days ago he let him enter the monkey exhibit for the first time. The following day, Zhang noticed that the monkey had “indigestion and difficulty defecating,” and it was then that he noticed there were peanut shells on the ground in the exhibit. He realized that zoo visitors had tossed some peanuts to the monkey, and “the toothless monkey swallowed the peanut whole.” Eeeee. Zhang knew that if the monkey couldn’t pass the peanut quickly, it could be in danger of dying. So, he did what any professional would do, something that generated what is perhaps my favorite paragraph ever to be typed in the English language:

50-year-old Zhang Bangsheng used warm water to clean a small Francois’ Leaf Monkey’s buttocks, then began using his mouth to lick it, not stopping for over an hour, until the little monkey defecated a single peanut. Only after the peanut was defecated did Zhang Bangsheng laugh with satisfaction.

Job well done, Zhang! You see, the monkey was too young to take medication, so the only way to stimulate it to poop was to lick its teensy weensy butt, but it takes a very dedicated worker to actually do that. I really, really hope they renamed—or at least nicknamed—this little guy Peanut. And let’s hope Zhang got a hefty bonus.

Harley From Japan Tsunami Washes Ashore In Canada

A motorcycle that washed ashore on B.C.’s west coast may have drifted across the Pacific after being carried out to sea by last year’s devastating Japanese tsunami.

A motorcycle swept to sea in the March 2011 Japanese tsunami that washed ashore recently on the island of Haida Gwaii is being returned to its owner in Japan. The motorcycle was scheduled to arrive in Victoria today where the Steve Drane Harley-Davidson dealership will prepare it for shipment to Japan.

Once in Japan, Harley-Davidson Japan will restore the bike at no cost before returning it to 29-year-old Ikuo Yokoyama. Yokoyama lost three family members in the tsunami.

This is unmistakably mine. It’s miraculous,” Yokoyama told Nippon TV after seeing photos of the bike. The motorcycle’s licence plate identified Yokoyama as the owner.

The Harley-Davidson motorcycle was being stored in a large container packed with Styrofoam which allowed it to float across the Pacific Ocean. It was carried to Haida Gwaii, where Masset resident Peter Mark discovered it on the beach on Graham Island.
