Weekend Open Mic

Weather:  This weather is nuts!  It was 75ºF on Thursday, much colder on Friday and we’re in for an inch or two of snow on Saturday and a hard freeze Saturday night.

The Weekend: We’re doing another trivia night on Saturday evening.  I’ve been working on that much of the week. On Sunday I hope to work on the patio room and catch up on things at home.

Computer: It’s sure been nice being able to work on my computer without worrying about it crashing all the time. While it was in the shop I was using my laptop.  While it’s a nice laptop there’s no comparison to my desktop setup.

Sad News:  Gerard Vlemmings, of the Netherlands, who has run The Presurfer website since 2000 passed away just a couple of weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer.  If you haven’t visited The Presurfer you’ve missed a lot of interesting posts.  I’ve shared many of his things on B&P.  The internet has gotten a little darker with his passing.  R.I.P.

Spring Forward: Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour Sunday morning for Daylight Saving Time. Well, those clocks that don’t automatically change, anyway.

That’s it from B&P Headquarters in St. Louis. What’s going on in your world?

  1. I too am deeply saddened with the death of Gerard. For many years the Presurfer and Bits and Pieces have been side by side on my morning blog list. Indeed the internet has gotten darker.

    • He really found unique and interesting things to post on his website. It almost always was a learning experience. He had stuff you just didn’t see on most of the other sites. I remember that it wasn’t that long ago when he announced his retirement from his 9 to 5 job and was planning on spending more time on The Presurfer site. He died at just 67 years of age.

      • Thanks for letting us know about this. I have been putting off asking if you knew of his sickness. His last update was Feb.17, but every morning I would go to his blog hoping for good news. His was the first blog I found in 2001 when I got my first PC. A little while after, by the way of his “Recommended Blogs”, I found B&P and Jwalk. I feel like I lost a dear friend that I never knew.

  2. I too am deeply saddened by the loss of Gerard…He was always such a thoughtful and giving person. As i said on his blog “I will remember his life for the rest of mine”.R.I.P.

  3. This such horrible news, coming so soon after the death of Nothing to do with Arbroath’s Kev Gray. They’ll both be missed by so many unmet internet friends.
    It makes so sad.

    Stay well.
