B&P Turns 14

14 yearsIt was fourteen years ago yesterday that the very first post appeared on Bits & Pieces.  It’s been a wild and crazy ride at times.  I’ve posted some interesting, weird and funny things along the way… many of which you’ve contributed.  Thank you!

I’ve met a lot of interesting people, both online and in person. I’ve met a few weird ones too. I’ve heeded your advice on places to eat and things to see while on road trips.  I’ve shared in life’s blessings and sorrows with many of you.  I’ve shared links with fellow bloggers and we’ve discussed different things both online and in person about running a website.  Thank you!

Sure it’s had its trials and tribulations but it’s also had its perks and peaks too.  It’s just like life, full of highs and lows and continually moving on.  I don’t know what the future will bring, but I can tell you that it’s still fun to do so I think I’ll continue doing it for a while. Thank you!

Thanks to all of you who visit – whether you stop by every once in a while or whether you’re here several times a day.  Thanks especially to those who take time to comment.  For without you this site would not exist.   Thank you.

  1. I still try to come here every day, I’m glad it’s been so successful. I go to your sister sites as well. Happy Birthday B&P!! Still my favorite.

  2. Congrats. I started coming here in 2007 and have been vising pretty much once a day since. Thanks Jonco.

  3. With all the things going on in the world, it is nice to come to a site that has stayed true to its original design.

    So thank you.

Happy Birthday B&P, I wish you many many more.

  4. Almost every day for around 10 years. I’ve made some great friends here and have enjoyed meeting quite a few.

Happy Birthday, B&P & Jonco! I hope we get to meet again someday.

  5. 14 years old…. oh great…. B&P is going to:

Spend hours in the bathroom doing God knows what…

Argue for absolutely no reason, completely ignore logic, and end every conversation with “you just don’t understand”…

Be all moody and dark just “because”…

Refuse to speak for 3 weeks because it’s not getting upgraded to the new special edition gold iPhone 7000 even though all it’s friends have one.

I bet you can’t wait until B&P turns 18 and is finally out of the house!

    ( Congrats Jonco 😛 )

  6. Wow, it seems like much longer. I check you out pretty much every day 😉 Keep it up, you’re like a genuine web service!

  7. Congrats, Jonco. I’ve been coming here for about 12 years now. I think I found you on the long-gone J-Walk blog. Time flies. Take care.

  8. I’m glad you’re younger than I am, so there’s a good chance you will be here for me till I kick. Thanks for doing what you’ve done/do/will do.

    • I didn’t think I was younger than anybody… except maybe Richard. He’s got a couple years on me.

  9. Whew. When I started reading your posting, I thought that you were either going to tell us that you were letting B&P go, or that it was an April Fool’s joke. Don’t ever give it up. Your site is the only one that remains mostly civil, non-political and interesting. Luv ya man!

  10. Happy Birthday B&P!!!!

Thanks again for the EVERYTHING!! I took a huge first step in “healing” when some of us met in Vegas. And I owe that to you and this wonderful site, Jonco. I’ll be forever grateful!!

    • That’s one of the nicest things I’ve read about B&P. It’s nice to know we can touch people in such a positive way. Thank you very much!

  11. Happy Birthday! And thank you for all the years of interesting posts. I don’t remember when I started coming here, but it was so long ago that I remember complaining about not being able to see the whole post, my screen was so small.

  12. A very happy birthday from me hailing from Negros Oriental Island in the Philippines! I found B&P in Alaska when webTV was my first venture into cyberspace. I’m one of those three times a day addicts.
…Also, It’s nice to see so many familiar names of people I have never met, but whom I feel I know so well, only through B&P!
…..also, also, Today has it’s own special meaning to me, as I finally received my permanent resident status! I am no longer a visitor.
    Live long and phosphor!

  13. A while ago I read that the “average” life span of a blog is 2 to 3 years. You must be doing something right!
Congratulations and thank you for the entertainment, the education and the engagement you’ve provided for the past 14 years.
