At first glance, the current, most recent, and altogether too familiar train wreck that is the government of the United States of America seems to be the same old song and dance we’ve been listening to for quite some time now. But if you’ll do what you should always do in politics and follow the money you’ll discover that everything is going according to plan. Not our plan, mind you, but their plan.
Along with the National Parks and benefits for wounded veterans we can also find the Federal Election Commission as one of those Federal agencies that are shut down for the drama and posturing.
That’s right, kids, no one is watching the wallets right now. So whatever else you might think this is about, you’d be wrong. This is about money and both sides of the illusionary issues have got both hands in the cookie jar even as we stare in horror.
Think about what is likely to happen and what is not likely to happen. First, what isn’t likely to happen is for the President to sign a bill of any sorts that guts or hampers the Affordable Healthcare Act. Please, don’t call it “Obamacare” because Congress, both parties, passed the law, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of it, and we the people elected the man twice. Well, you the people elected him twice. I was still hanging out with a tri-cornered hat screaming about a birth certificate and hoping to practice some voodoo with Christine O’Donnell. What is very likely to happen is both sides will dig in and blame the other knowing that one, the other, or both might take a poll hit, but nothing will change.
The Tea Party, in the greatest of ironies, has hijacked the Republican Party to great effect. They have small numbers but they own enough Congressmen to totally screw the current system, except for one thing; they’re playing right into the hands of the Greed Mongers. The Tea People didn’t plan it this way, but they’ve been outflanked with an issue they think will turn America into the next Soviet Union. They would be wrong, of course, but they are right in thinking that the AHA is a bad thing. This thing is a gross monster of regulatory red tape and hoop jumping that will confuse the common person and require yet another army of bureaucrats to administer it.
Trust me. This is the real and present danger of AHA is that we don’t see the real and present danger coming. Why do you think they named it, “AHA!”
So here’s what has really happened that you missed, I mean, other than the free money flowing and the veterans being screwed over once again, the Tea Party has finally done something that no one else has in a very long time; a small group of people have made a difference.
Like them, love them, hate them, or make fun of them because they love Sara Palin, it doesn’t really matter because they are out there and right now, they are the people drawing down votes from the Two Headed Buzzard Party System we’ve bought into.
Yeah, you’ve helped elect this mess while they are out there trying to change what they can, for whatever reasons they might be trying, at least they are.
