True or False: “Think Before You Donate” Charity Claims
This graphic is near to useless. Try http://www.charitynavigator.org/ instead.
Seriously Jonco, this is so misleading it should be taken down.
Ditto. I shoot this down every time I see it pop up on FB.
Look at the Lions Club one:
“100% of the donations go to help the BLIND buy HEARING AIDS”
Edit.. ah nevermind, I see that under the squiggly line there’s a comma.
People need to think about percentages before giving to any charity no matter what name it has attached to it. Always do your homework before handing over your hard earned money.
Heck, the local “Colonel” of the Salvation Army drives a Lexus…leased by the Army.
They are a religion, not a charity so to speak. They don’t have to have their books audited by the same people that look at charities.
I don’t donate to anyone.
All my donations are in my Will.
I don’t know how much I may need for my “end of life”.
Anything left over is divided up percentage wise between organizations that I have vetted.
Hint: When you are asked for $$$, just say, “I’ll give you anything for your cause, if you give me twice as much for my cause”.
