Weekend Open Mic

Weekend open mic

Going, Going Gone:  I’m off to the Lake of the Ozarks for the weekend.  Good food, fresh air, plenty of laughter and perhaps a few drinks with a few friends make for a great weekend.  I’m not sure what connectivity I’ll have while I’m gone but I’ve pre-posted things for the weekend.  I’ll try to catch up Monday.Forecast jul 13

Weather: After a pretty hot week we have a couple of nice days before the heat and humidity return.  This is typical for July in the midwest.  Click image to enlarge

That’s it from here.  What’s going on in your world?

  1. 6.75″ of rain here in Western NC the past two days. Off & on rain today but I’m off work and relaxing after 9 straight 🙂 back tomorrow though 🙁

  2. I put in my two week notice today to quit my shitty job. I’ve never put in a resignation notice before, ever. Didn’t really know whether to laugh or cry when I walked out the door. Now, I’m having a beer and smiling. I know it was the right move for me. Only four shifts to go in the next 2 weeks and I’m outta there. I’m thinking I’ll have a better one before that time is up. 🙂

  3. So where do you work Bella? We have to get together some time that i’m in PG. I was there for a night every 2 weeks last summer, between flights home from work. i’m in Bob Quinn this year so it’s only a 4.5 hour drive to work. Closest I’ve been to home in awhile.

    • Anytime Steve. That would be great to meet with you. I met ALN and his parents when they were on their route from Alaska via Prince George, south. Fantastic Folk. Met ALN and the Mrs. again in Vegas. You meet some fantastic folk through this site. (That’s just to mention a few) I hope you like to have a beer or two or at least a tea. Our man Jonco will make sure we share details. That’s why we loves him.

Oh, and I worked at BC Tel/Telus for 35 yrs. and am now unemployed from the company that puts a bullseye on your forehead.
Looking forward to meeting you Steve. We can share stories.

  4. I seem to have this animal magnetism that only works on yellow jackets. I was stung 2 weeks ago while trimming hedges – hand swelled like a balloon. Yesterday, I tried finishing the half-done hedges (after exterminator removed the nest) and at the last bush another yellow jacket nest fires a shot right at my upper lip. Well, now I have a massive upper lip. Usually the bees get me while mowing over their underground nests. This year they’ve moved to the bushes,

I scanned a bunch of ads from a 1944 Life, that were poorly named or just bizarre. Take a look at them here.
