We got about 3″ of snow up here near Chicago–and I saw some guy riding his bicycle. I hope he made it to wherever he was going.
“This guy is either desperate or crazy.”
And the answer is…YES!
But, at the risk of a berating…I love to ride in the snow. LOVE it!!!
No berating due.. I just can’t imagine trying to actually trying to get somewhere like that. Especially on a big bike. I’d be scared to death. I’ve ridden when it was 27 degrees out and I was really glad to get to my destination.
Now give me a 3 wheeler or 4 wheeler and I’d be right out there with you.
One of our local “can picker-uppers” rides his bicycle all year around and a nice local company even studded up his tires. They’re still crazy though.
In 1972, I was in college and a motorcycle was my only vehicle. I rode it to work in the evenings at least twice a week about 3 miles. I learned the value of newspapers as insulation that year, stuffing my sleeves and pant legs full of it before riding. My worst drives were at 5 below one night, and in a snowstorm where I had to keep both feet spread out and on the ground to keep the bike upright. So, desperate was my story.
neither, he is just hardcore \o/
He would be better described as “A Cool Fool”.
You people wouldn’t recognize a Canadian if it hit you in the forehead!
There is a guy here in Anchorage that rides a trike all year long…..brrrr
I live in Colorado and ride my bicycle to work year round. I’m the only one at my company who does 100% of the time, but even on snow days my bike isn’t the only one on the rack.
As long as you wear an extra layer and have good gloves it’s really pretty comfy.
