We’ve had a fairly mild winter so far and we’ve almost reached the halfway point. While it’s cold this morning, 19°F, it’s dry and supposed to start warming up on Sunday.

I’ll be attending a memorial service today for the mother of a friend of mine who passed away a couple of weeks ago.
What’s going on in your world?

My condolences to you and your friend’s family Jonco. It seems to continually snow here in CT, not so much as to be a problem (since the blizzard), but if you’re into winter wonderland stuff…nice.
I have to scratch the itch and get back to digging in the past. There are a few sales out there today, and I will find what I can in the way of a story.
If you like odd ads – take a look at this cigarette ad from the 30′s. Ever hear of Spud cigarettes? not me…
My parents used to smoke these. About the same time cigarette vending machines returned change inside the cellophane. That was in the 40s.
Inside the cellophane! Cool! Thanks Barb.
I saw one of the most amazing things today. We were at the beach standing around hoping for a bit of breeze so we could fly, and I was noticing a really dark band in the sky, just above the water, on the horizon. Then I noticed there was a big square thing out there I’d never seen before, so I went to the car to get the binoculars. Turns out what I was seeing was a reflection of an oil rig that was over the horizon! I got a picture, but not a very good one… https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/856221_10151272190951039_4852116_o.jpg
That’s a neat picture hcmom.
We’ve had another week of very warm weather–high 70′s. We’re supposed to cool off and have rain by Tuesday, though. We really need the rain–way below average this year.
I’ll be pouring Robertson Winery wines at the South African Pavillion at the Miami Boat Show this afternoon at Bayside Marina in downtown Miami.
I swear to gawd that you have the best job ever. I wonder if they need any booze selling broads up here? Hmmmm.
Selling or swilling?
Thank you, Bella, for giving me a true laugh out loud.
Jonco: Both
Sir Paul: You’re Welcome
